About the adventure
With an emphasis on heavy role play and intense combat, playing Icewind Dale at my table will force you to build a team that can take on ancient and new evils whilst fighting off the bone chilling blizzards of the Dale. Molding the world to your characters is what I do best, changing it alongside you as your decisions work to challenge the evils casting their shadows over Ten Towns.

About me
Welcome adventurers! I am Justin and I will be your link to the magnificent, magical worlds and adventures that can be found in the worlds of Dungeons and Dragons. I love creating a world that I can then explore with my fellow players, creating the story as we go along. The shenanigans, plot turns and suspenseful, deadly encounters all included when we play together. When I DM for a game, one of the most important things for me is engagement. Without engagement with the world, they can simply seem bland, out of context and boring. This is why I do my best to make sure that every player gets their shot at their desired monologue, cool action or spotlight performance. If things slow down and the party has little to do or talk about, I will throw in some kind of random encounter, story driven trap, or maybe even your first deadly encounter with the big bad themselves. I look forward to learning about you and the personally crafted character you wish to bring to the table. Your backstories, your artwork, your general happiness and joy within the game are what I live for and I cannot wait to begin. So, without any further adieu, who wants to play some D&D?

Creating your character
Before session zero, you are more than welcome to create the bones and structure of your character through DnD Beyond to get a feel for what you'd like to play. I'd like you to come to session zero with a well thought out idea for a character and backstory that would lead you to venturing Northward towards the icy tundra of Icewind Dale. You could even build your entire character on DnD Beyond before we get to session zero and we can work out any kinks during. Character Hook Ideas: - A bounty hunter looking for a mark - Member of the Arcane Brotherhood looking to study the ancient magic city that once went missing here - Criminal who is looking to lay low for a while - Pirate who has crash landed off the coast of Icewind Dale Please keep character ideas appropriate and no outwardly sexual themes such as lack of clothing or explicit details regarding sexual organs or themes. My games are meant to be adventurous and I do not allow explicit sexual content outside of mature jokes and fade to black moments.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
1. Create an account on DnD Beyond if you do not already have one. 2. Join my discord server. 3. Familiarize yourself with the basic rules if you haven't already. 4. Fill out my RPG Checklist. 5. Consider the type of character you'd like to play. 6. Come to session zero with an open mind and some note taking material.
What ALinkNamedJustin brings to the table
My players receive the benefits of the books that I own on DND Beyond as well as consistent musical ambience specifically coordinated for your game. I use online maps both that I create as well as receive through a subscription to places such as Cze Peku. I consider the rule of cool to be a situational enhancer that can also come at high costs. (Example: Using the fireball spell in tandem with the Shape Spell feature to create a form of propulsion engine. This would cost more than one spell slot of relevant level, but can be used to propel a sled across the snow or ice.) I put everything I can into my acting during roll playing by placing myself into the character themselves, doing voices, acting out gestures, etc. to really immerse myself into the world with the players.
Homebrew rules
Drinking potions: Drinking potions in my games are a bonus action. Nat 20: These are considered critical successes, doubling any damage you may deal as well as being considered an automatic success on a check no mater the situation. Nat 1: These are considered critical failures and are automatic failures of a check and may cause the doubling of damage taken or other effects depending on the situation. Dodge: In my game, the dodge can be taken as a reaction to curtain circumstances and can lead to a free amount of movement or even an opportunity attack or damage taken depending on the circumstance.

How ALinkNamedJustin creates a safe table
Before session zero, all players are asked to fill out an RPG checklist that is meant to give me a full understanding of what topics to be warry of and what to completely avoid. This also helps give me an idea of how comfortable players will be playing the game itself. Before session zero, if there are any players who seem to be unable to handle the topics and events that are most likely to appear in the game, I will have a private conversation with them to discuss if this is a game they would still like to play. At session zero, any hard lines are discussed so that everyone is aware of what is and is not comfortable at the table. All personal information is kept anonymous to keep people's personal lives and problems private, however I like to make everyone at the table aware of the hard line topic to keep everyone on the same page. During play, I welcome anyone to contact me privately to let me know that a topic of discomfort has been brought up so that I can handle the situation appropriately. After play and in between games, I welcome anyone to reach out to me to discuss any issues that may have come up during play.
