About the adventure

Chip into the land of Greyhawkins, a Dungeons and Dragons 5th edition world based on the Netflix TV show Stranger Things. If you watch the show and it peaked an interest in its references to D&D, then this campaign is for you! If the circumstances don't apply to you, welcome anyway! Greyhawkins is full of wonder and high fantasy full of (spoiler free) references to the show itself. You'll find yourself fighting monsters in engaging and strategic combat situations, digging up treasure to upgrade your gear, NPC interactions perfect for roleplay opportunities, and intriguing quests to fulfill that push forward a collaborative story that is told by a group. Imagine your own fantasy character whether they be a magic wielder, a professional in weaponry or maybe a mix of both. The possibilities are only limited by the imagination of the player. However, the campaign provides premade characters if you aren't sure of what to do for your first go into Dungeons and Dragons. What will you do with your character? What will you do with the world around you? What will the group do as a whole in the end? Well just have to see. Join up, and welcome to Hellfire!

About me

My name's Enrique, and my total experience playing TTRPGs is being what's called the forever DM (Dungeon Master) for almost all the groups I've played with dating back to mainly the quarantine in 2020. But even before then, my interest for D&D was always there, as my love for the fantasy and sci-fi worlds I grew up with such as (but not limited to) Star Wars, The Lord of the Rings, and Final Fantasy. I feel confident in my DM'ing but as I've learned over the years there's still much more to learn; I find that's the beauty in an evolving game with an expanded multiverse such as D&D.

Character creation

Creating your character

Making characters will be done before a session begins. We will start our characters at Level 1; in the case a player starts deeper into the campaign, they will make a character at the same level the rest of the party is at. Character creation and tracking will be done on a DND Beyond account that will be linked to the DM. > Use Point Buy for ability scores. > There are no specific restrictions for which books to refer to other than Dragonlance. > There will be premade characters for this campaign you can choose from if you're unsure about what character you wish to play.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Discord: for communication (I will send a link to a shared server) - DND Beyond account: for character sheets, maps, and shared content (campaign link is provided in the discord)

What Enrique brings to the table

I use the rule of cool to an extent. Just as long as it makes sense and we can all agree on as a group. > I'm no voice actor, but voices added to different characters definitely make them FEEL different from the other NPCs, PCs included > I like using music, there are a lot of bangers that make the experience more epic > Combat for newer players will be more simple, but will ramp up in difficulty and be more tactical as times goes on depending on how easy the encounters are for newer and experienced players alike

Homebrew rules

>Drinking potions: - Bonus action = roll for HP recovered - Full action = Max HP recovered >PC Death is allowed a free action with half movement and speech/final words; who knows? Some miracle might happen. > Rolling for HP during level ups: - if you roll a 1, count it as a 2. Rolling 1 is the worse than the unlucky roll that is SUPPOSED to make you stronger and a 1 doesn't achieve that. > Modified crits: - you get maximum damage on a crit - you then roll the damage die and add it to the maximum damage previous. Make it hurt.

Safety

How Enrique creates a safe table

There will be a social contract in session 0 stating the expectations and rules/homebrew mechanics that will happen during the game. I like the Stars and Wishes system which will allow players to state what they like and dislike about the game so far at the end of the session. However this doesn't prohibit the player to speak their mind about triggers while the game is running. I understand a lot of things will happen at once, and I'm one who gets overwhelmed/overstimulated and some others are more susceptible of such conditions. Breaks are allowed to the player's discretion, just keep me in the loop. Players are entitled to a 10-15 min break in the middle of the session.
