About the adventure
Jax Garvonex, the first artificer, was said to have been given to Tarkel to bring about the age of innovation. The son of Aasterinian, gifted with advanced intellect and fascination with the inner workings of machines, spent his life researching magic, how to harness it, and how to give it to those who could have it no other way. Many hours were spent toiling, trying to shove magic into machine, to make it stay and hold, and fuse. He first found there were traces of magic in blood, in the sap of plants. But it was diminished. Flooded through the systems, it was tainted, and he needed pure magic. Eventually, he perfected a machine that extracted the magic, though it's methods were debated. The machine was brutal on the subject, leaving their bodies as withered husks. Though Garvonex never put humanoids into his machine, there were others who used his technology and were not as humane. And Garvonex was targeted for his hand in bringing this monstrous contraption into the world. Though the progress he'd brought was bringing in a gilded age, he dealt with protesters, activists, anti-magicists, and death threats. Some of those who most loudly opposed Garvonex's technology decided violence would stop this. His home, with he and his family inside, was destroyed. World headlines covered the story, making it very clear that the Artificer's family hadn't made it out of the building in time. Garvonex was alone, and so he began to travel the world, collecting knowledge and building the library. Since then, the Library, known across the world as the Gearsong Bastion, is a beautiful sight to behold. A modern marvel of technology that calls all who seek it's volumes. Gleaming across the countryside as it lumbers, it holds the most comprehensive collection of Tarkelian information and fiction. It's appearance elicits crowds to gather at the edges of their towns to see, to follow, to wonder. As the Library nears Odin's Seat, the town carved into a grand mountain, buzzes with whispers of it's approach.

Hello and welcome! I’m Pierce and I’d like to be your GM! I hope your travels so far have been kind to you, and I hope you’re ready for another! Or, if this is your first adventure, I’m honored to be your guide as you take your first steps! A bit about me: - I’ve been a professional dungeon master for 1 year, teaching kids aged 8-15 the ins and outs and joys of D&D. - I’ve been a hobbyist GM for 6 years, running home games for friends and family across several systems. - I’m an artist (and former tattoo artist), and can/will provide hand drawn character portraits for you and your table! - My favorite TTRPG system is the World of Darkness Storyteller System, with Dungeons and Dragons as a close second. - I am an avid video gamer as well, and play a multitude of games on PC, and have a big soft spot in my heart for Rock Band. Creating your character
Characters will begin the campaign at level 3. Rules will be 2024 where applicable. Content from official D&D sources is allowed, barring Spelljammer and parts of Ebberon (ask me!). Character creation will happen away from the table, on your own, with my assistance at the ready.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
Make sure you can access the following tools- - D&D Beyond: We will be using this for character sheets, maps, with optional dice. - Discord: You will need to have an account, as all communication and gameplay itself takes place in a dedicated server. - Microphone: Though text rp is wonderful, this game will be held in the discord server via voice chat. - Dice: Physical or digital, you will need access to a full set of 7 gaming dice. Google, D&D Beyond, and other sources have free digital rolling. These items are highly recommended but ulitmately optional. - Webcam/camera: I do show my face, as do some of the other players, though you are never obligated to do the same. - Notetaking method: Some players find that they need to write down events to fully enjoy the game. Whichever method suits you best is acceptable.

How Pierce creates a safe table
The way you act at my table is imperative to being allowed to stay! I am very excited to go on this journey with you, but you’ll have to follow some rules. - We don’t meta game, god-mod, or power game. Meta gaming can be hard to avoid sometimes, but do your best! - X, N, O cards are private, sent to me in DM, and never announced aside from the change of direction.
