About the adventure

The great civilization of Coatlanas used to be known far and wide for it's skill in technology, medicine, and the arcane arts. The people of Coatlanas inhabited an island in the far reaches of the Korian Ocean, which was only accessible by boat once every hundred years. This was not an issue, however, as the mages of Coatlanas had many teleportation circles and had no issue setting up travel to and from the island through these magical means. But then, seventy-five years ago, something happened. What, no one knows. But suddenly, all of the teleportation circles stopped working. And word no longer came from Coatlanas, even through Magical means. No one knows what happened to Coatlanas, as no one's been able to reach the island for seventy-five years. But now, the way is clear for a short time for boats to approach the island, and an expedition has been sent to determine the cause of Coatlanas' mysterious silence. Your characters have been selected to join the expedition to Coatlanas for one reason or another to assist with the investigation into the civilization's mysterious disappearance. This will be a horror themed campaign, set in a post-apocalyptic style setting.

About me

The name is Lyca, and I want to play a game with YOU! I've been playing ttrpgs for pretty much my entire life- My parents got me started when I was 2 years old!- and I started running games for other people when I was 12. I've learned a thing or two about running games over the years, and there's nothing I find more joy in than running a game. I particularly helping people learn to play D&D for the first time. D&D is a system that's near and dear to my heart, and I'm always open to running a new campaign. I enjoy roleplay, story telling, and world building the most. Combat is fun and can present interesting challenges, but I use it as a tool, not the end-all-be-all of games. So if you prefer to focus on your character and their story, then I would love to work with you.

Character creation

Creating your character

Welcome to my game! Characters will be created through D&D beyond. Please reference the discord for further information about the world setting.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Please join the discord server, where all of the other information will be located. https://discord.gg/D3gy4yU68r

What DM Lyca brings to the table

I will tell the story using images, music, and voices to get you into the setting of Coatlanas, and bring you into my homebrewed world. We will talk in discord, utilizing either voice chat or play-by-post.

Homebrew rules

As this is a homebrewed world, there will be more house rules. Drinking potions are considered a bonus action, several races have a different history in the setting, and skill checks may be made with different abilities if you can argue the case for it.

Safety

How DM Lyca creates a safe table

I utilize a Lines and Veils system through the use of the RPG Consent checklist. We also will have a discussion of expectations at the start of the campaign, as well as a calm-down period after we end each session so we can release the tension that comes with playing a horror-themed campaign.
