About the adventure

This game is based off of Jim Henson's Labyrinth using the beautifully created 2d6 adventuring system. If you are a fan of the movie, you will be a fan of this game! Immerse yourself in the fantastical world of the Labyrinth by creating a character that the Goblin King (Jareth) has stolen something from. Are you a human? Or someone living closer to the walls of the maze? The campaign will take you from your humble (or fantastical) beginnings and then throw you into the world of the Labyrinth to try and take back what was stolen from you. Or perhaps, maybe your plans will change by the time you reach the castle at the center of the Labyrinth? It's up to you to decide what paths you will take and what kind of lessons you will learn. What exactly is it that you are truly looking for along the way? Whether with a group, solo, or having friends drop in along the way—one thing is certain—you have thirteen hours in which to solve the Labyrinth before what was stolen from you becomes lost, forever. Whether you are new to Tabletop Roleplaying Games or an old hat of the adventuring world, this game welcomes and is friendly to all and offers a simple mechanical experience built on a rich roleplaying environment.

About me

(Alicia she/her): My first foray into TTRPG's started when I was nine years old and I played Dungeons and Dragons 3.5, a classic. My imagination had always wanted a creative outlet to latch on to—and latch it did. Over the past twenty years I have played and also GM'ed more games than I can count, and the horizon of TTRPG ideas have been endless, I wouldn't have it any other way. I enjoy bringing boundless creativity to any of my tables, and a passion for storytelling has always been a strong suit of mine. If I had to sum up what I love most about TTRPG's is the endless summit that they represent—they can be anything, you can be anything—the only limitation is your imagination. (John he/him): I started playing TTRPGs in college when my girlfriend (now wife) introduced me to her group. Even though I'd never even heard of tabletop games before, it didn't take me long to get the itch to DM my own games. My very first game only had only one player, and I didn't even own a copy of the rulebook yet. I just made them up as I went along. It was like an entire childhood of imagination could finally come forth in a way I had never even dreamed of before. Long story short, I fell in love. Since then I've only grown more passionate about tabletop games. New systems, new mechanics, always wanting to add more little things to make a more singular experience for my players.

Character creation

Creating your character

We will be using the Labyrinth: The Adventure Game book to create characters where you will choose your kin (character race): Dwarf, Firey, Goblin, Human, Knight of Yore, Horned Beast, and Worm. This will determine character traits and/or flaws. There is no level system as changes to your Traits/Flaws will come as you travel further into the Labyrinth, showcasing a reflection of your characters journey and if it changed them in some way. Ideally we will create characters prior to the start of the first actual session over discord where I can run players through the character creating process as it will determine the feeling going into the game. The most important aspect of your character you will need to create is what was stolen from you. This could be something mundane as a pocket watch or something more prosaic like your artistic ability or sense of smell. But at the end of the day it is something that you desperately want back.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Have access to Discord and join the server once signed up, proceed to the Session 0 server and introduce yourself. From there we will take a look at the character sheet and go over the rules of the game.

What Alicia & John brings to the table

This game will incorporate all the fantastical themes of Jim Henson's Labyrinth, wherein I will provide fun voice work as well as the ambient music of the setting, should you want to dance with the Goblin King to Cyndi Lauper's Time After Time that can be arranged as well, no judgement. There will also be maps provided by the adventure guide as you progress through the Labyrinth to give you a sense of your immediate surroundings. This system relies on the use of heavy roleplay and imagination as the mechanics are on the lite side, so flex the brain muscles and know that talking is an important aspect when necessary. As such it relies also on the Rule of Cool at times to really let you shine.

How Alicia & John creates a safe table

Session 0 will address my lines and veils as well as your own should you choose to address your own that are not previously mentioned. If at anytime a player feels uncomfortable they can privately send me or in public chat and X card to indicate they need to address something that is uncomfortable or triggering. After every session I will drop a "How is everyone doing and feeling?" in the Aftercare server on discord to address any changes or adjustments that need to be made.
