About the adventure

Dark mists curl around your boots as you step through the veil and into Barovia — a land where the sun barely dares to rise, where wolves howl in the distance, and the villagers whisper the name Strahd with trembling lips. This gothic horror campaign plunges you into the cursed domain of a powerful vampire lord who rules over his realm with charm, cruelty, and an endless hunger for control. Every cobblestone, every gust of wind, every shadowed forest path tells a story — most of them ending in tragedy. This campaign is perfect for players who love atmosphere, mystery, and moral choices. Expect exploration through haunted ruins, tense social encounters with suspicious villagers, and brutal battles against creatures of the night. The tone is dark and immersive — a blend of suspense, sorrow, and flashes of grim humor. You’ll uncover secrets, make allies (if you can trust them), and try to survive the creeping dread that seeps into every corner of Barovia. Whether you’re a seasoned adventurer looking for a challenge or a newcomer ready to experience D&D’s most famous horror story, this game welcomes you. The focus will be on storytelling, player choice, and cinematic moments that make you feel like you’ve stepped into a gothic novel. But beware: in Barovia, courage is tested, hope is fleeting, and every victory comes at a cost. Will you break the curse… or become part of it? After this campaign ends and the group meshes well we can continue the story with the same characters straight into Vecna: Eve of Ruin for levels 10-20

About me

Hi, I'm Cain! I've been playing TTRPG's for 9 years and I've had an amazing time for every second of it. While I'm new to being a GM I've been hooked on the game for so long that i feel this is just the natural next step. I try to stick to as Rules as Written but the rule of cool will always be prevalent in my games. I can't have been more lucky to find such a welcoming community where i can enjoy this hobby I love with those who share my passion

Creating your character

For this game we will be using 2024 rules, characters start at level 3, we will roll for stats in Session zero, take started equipment and one free feat. If you want to use any homebrew or 2014 races or classes please just ask first so i may review it

What to expect

Preparing for the session

In order to play the game you need three things, a D&D Beyond account, a Roll20 account, and the Beyond20 extension installed, all of which are free. You will also need a working microphone so we can hear you

What Cain brings to the table

I will bring voices, maps, tokens, and intense combat to compliment a story that will keep you on the edge of your seat.

Homebrew rules

I do explosive crits, whenever a crit occurs before rolling damage you roll 3d6, when rolled and none of the d6's match your attack will do double damage, on two of the d6's matching your attack will do triple damage and lastly on all three dice matching your attack does quadruple damage.
