About me

Hi, I'm Walid! 👋 I have been hooked on TTRPGs since 2015. Over the last decade, I’ve been running weekly one-shots across dozens of systems and managing epic, long-term campaigns. I bring a decade of passion to every session! My Experience: I have been running games for nearly a decade, fueled by a passion for collaborative creativity. My goal is to create a dynamic table where the narrative breathes. I thrive on reading the room—knowing exactly when to lean into a dramatic beat or when to let the table erupt in laughter. Play with me if you want a GM who is as invested in your character's ups and downs as you are. My Background: I discovered the hobby in 2015 via Actual Plays and haven't looked back. I have experience with a vast library of indie systems (my faves!) and the industry's biggest titles. Outside the Game: When I'm not prepping sessions (or organizing my life via Excel spreadsheets), I am studying Philosophy and Political Science in Montréal. I love cinema, video games, and showing off my cat to my players. Let's tell a story together :)

Character creation

Creating your character

We will build our characters together during Session 0. This ensures everyone is comfortable with their character and our group dynamic before the adventure officially begins! ⭕ Starting Level: We will begin our adventure at Level 1. ⭕ Ability Scores (Stats): Please use the Point Buy method (27 points) or the Standard Array. This creates a balanced party where every character has a chance to shine.

The current party

Our party is composed of a Sorcerer/Wizard Shadar-Kai with strange visions, a Monk "possessed" by the spirit of a divinity, and a young farmboy Elf Druid/Barbarian. The party is level 4 and is currently infiltrating a Raiders Camp!

What to expect

Preparing for the session

You need a microphone, a Discord account, a D&D Beyond account and a Roll20 account to participate! A camera is not mandatory but greatly recommended!

What Walid brings to the table

Most importantly, I consider players to be the driving force of any story! I'm here to react to your inputs, your wants and needs for the story. I will gladly take the story in unexpected directions if it's something the party wants! I use ambient music and sound effects on Discord to set the tone at the table. I very much enjoy doing character voices, roleplaying intense moments, letting characters take the spotlight when needed! I also enjoy giving creative inputs to my players in the heat of the moment. Allowing them to describe an NPC, tell me something about a location or a city... If that's something you think you'll enjoy, I am very excited to have you at my table! Worldbuilding is my strong suit, and while it doesn't shine the brightest with pre-established settings like the Forgotten Realms, it doesn't stop me from going in depths and customizing things to my table's liking.

Homebrew rules

Death's Door: Instead of going unconscious at 0 HP, you'll be placed at death's door. Your speed is cut in half, and you lose your ability to make a bonus action (all bonus actions can be used as an action). You still roll death saves as normal at the start of your turn and can take your action to treat your wounds to and gain advantage on your next death save. If you take an offensive action on deaths door you automatically force another saving throw. A natural one on an attack roll on Death's door will be an automatic Failure, a critical hit on Death's door will be an automatic success. ASI and a Feat: Instead of choosing between a +2 ASI or a Feat, characters gain a +1 ASI and a Feat at levels 4, 8, 12, 16 and 19.

Safety

How Walid creates a safe table

Session 0 will be an opportunity for us to talk about Lines and Veils (which will be able to be brought to the table anonymously), as well as set the tone more specifically with everyone. This is an opportunity to facilitate our cooperation and see if you mesh with the group! My games have an Open Door policy: you are free to leave the virtual table and the game as a whole at any moment without owing an explanation and without judgement. For our in-session safety tools, I use Script Change through a Roll20 add-on, which I'll explain during Session 0. In brief, Script Change is a safety tool that allows to control the pacing of the game both for comfort and to give input to the GM during our session. You can learn more about it here: https://thoughty.itch.io/script-change
