About the adventure
This is the official "Start Here" adventure for Draw Steel. If you're curious about the game you can start playing immediately with pregenerated, tutorial character sheets. This can be a single session for 3-4 hours raiding a dungeon to rescue a captive. It can also be a substantial campaign for 6-10 weeks featuring a sand-box town full of quests and an encroaching threat from the woods... This is a Tactical, Heroic, Cinematic, Fantasy game where you play as heroes. The core of the game is action-oriented with unique Heroic Resources for each class that fuel their most powerful abilities. If you're familiar with a d20 fantasy game like D&D, this game will have some similar archetypes in fresh forms. Outside of combat, heroes can be faced with dangerous wilderness treks or high-fantasy heists in the form of a Montage Test. They can participate in tense peace talks or gain vital information in Negotiations. They can even craft an airship or go fishing with Down Time Projects.

About me
Hiya! My name is Nathan or Anna and my pronouns are he/they/she. I've been running games since 2019 and I love it. I hope I can provide games where others can learn to love this hobby too! I've mostly ran D&D 5e but I've run games of Heart, Lancer, Honey Heist, and I've mostly been running Draw Steel lately.

Creating your character
This adventure comes with pregenerated characters, so you can show up for our first session and get started learning the game right away.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
You'll need Owlbear Rodeo and Discord accounts for this game.
What Nathan/Anna brings to the table
I'll provide the game resources and try my best to make a fun experience for the table. Because I want to provide a place to learn the game, I'll mostly run things Rules As Written. That said, I'll often make rulings to speed the pace of the game along and check the rules later. I'll let you know if I plan on changing some established rulings at our table. Last and most, safety tools. I'll be going over this in out first session but I'll be taking our safety tools seriously.

How Nathan/Anna creates a safe table
Our first session will be largely a "session 0" where we will, in part, be discussing safety. However you can help me prepare a bit by giving me some Lines and Veils. Think of any Lines of Veils you want for our game and let me know before our first session. "Lines" are any topics or content you do not want in the game at all. Not in the plot, world, or conversation. "Veils" are any topics or conversations you don't mind being in the game, but would never want as the main focus. Never "on-screen" in other words. I'll add these to a document everyone can see and keep submissions anonymous. We'll also be taking regular breaks, at least 1 every 90 minutes, so everyone can take a breather. Also, I encourage people to step away for some time whenever they feel that they need to.
