About the adventure

“Been running since the line broke outside Kalisz—just ghosts in American uniforms now. Poland’s all smoke and winter, every road crawling with Ivans, raiders, and folks hungrier than we are. We were just trying to make it west, find a boat, find home… then we stumbled into something we weren’t supposed to see. Something that might just matter more than all of us.” EXODUS TWILIGHT BEGINS WITH SURVIVAL—AND ENDS WITH A CHOICE. In the aftermath of World War III, Europe is a graveyard. The U.S. 5th Infantry Division has been annihilated in the fields of Poland, leaving scattered survivors cut off behind Soviet lines. You are among them—hungry, cold, and hunted—pressing west through the ruins in hopes of finding passage home across a dying continent. But war has a way of keeping its grip, and fate has other plans. When your squad crosses paths with a group of civilians guarding a secret that could change everything, your mission shifts from survival to something far greater. Whispers speak of technology that could rekindle light in the darkness, a spark that might just mend the broken world—if it doesn’t destroy what’s left of it first. From frozen battlefields to burned-out cities, from desperate villages to NATO’s last ports on the Baltic, Exodus Twilight is a journey through loss, loyalty, and the faint flicker of redemption. Every bullet, every decision, and every mile west carries a price. Will you cling to duty, or to humanity? And when hope finally appears—will you recognize it for what it is? NOTE: This campaign is intended be a LONG term open sandbox game with the end goal of players making their way out of Europe, back to America. ⚠️ Twilight: 2000 – 4th Edition is a sandbox survival RPG set in a post-apocalyptic world where World War III never truly ended. Players take on the roles of soldiers and survivors navigating shattered Europe—scavenging, negotiating, and fighting for every scrap of food, fuel, and trust. The system blends tactical realism with emergent storytelling, where a single bad roll can change everything. In Exodus Twilight, your story isn’t about saving the world—it’s about deciding if it’s still worth saving.

About me

Greetings and Salutations! Thank you for taking the time to view my profile. SOCIAL LINKS : https://bio.link/fatherj I am FatherJ from the Northeast United States. I really enjoy RPGs from Free League Publishing and the Year Zero Engine. I would love to run one of their games for you! Eastern Time Zone EST: UTC−05:00 standard [ EDT: UTC−04:00 daylight savings] I have been playing many different Table Top Role-Playing Games (TTRPGs) for 15 years, 13 years as GM. I have run hundreds of sessions in over a dozen different science fiction and fantasy RPG systems for an equally wide variety of people in person, at gaming clubs, at gaming stores and online. I have been running online games since 2023. I have 5 children and 4 cats. My day job is in the Information Technology field. My main goal is to have fun games where my players can feel comfortable and become invested in. Nothing makes me feel happier in RPGs than listening to my players enthusiastically recount the tales we have created together. My focus is to share my love for Free League games (Year Zero Engine) by providing people the opportunity to play these wonderful games online. Real life situations had caused a gap in my gaming, but I was inspired by running into Free League Publishing games to get back into TTRPGs two years ago. I have come to StartPlaying looking to run some serious and/or seriously fun sessions. I want to see what I can add to this community! My story telling style is light and flows easy. I do not let the mechanics detract from the experience, but use them to enhance the story you want to be told! I love GMing online. The amount of tools available to online play really enhance the game, in my opinion. I know Foundry VTT pretty well, and I would be more than happy to help teach new and seasoned players alike how good online play can be. Beginner and LGBT+ Friendly. I have taught new systems to new players. I enjoy the experience. We were all new players, or new to a system, at one time.

Character creation

Creating your character

We’ll hold a Session Zero for character creation one hour before game start on Foundry VTT (solo or group), with discussion via my Discord server to go over character ideas, rules, and expectations. Players can also create characters beforehand and import them, or schedule time with me to finalize details. Pre-generated characters are available, and backups are recommended due to the game’s lethality. Late joiners will be supported with character creation, but if setup isn’t completed by session start, a pre-gen or temporary NPC will be used. Please sign up at least 24 hours in advance to ensure everything’s ready.

The current party

This campaign is intended be a long term open sandbox game with the end goal of players making their way out of Europe, back to America. Players can be soldiers, deserters, civilians, ex-police, or criminals that have banded together as a group to survive and escape war-torn poland.

Safety

How FatherJ creates a safe table

My GM style is collaborative, player-focused, and rooted in creating an inclusive, respectful environment where everyone feels heard and safe. I run sandbox/open-world games with strong story foundations and meaningful player agency, using tools like FoundryVTT, maps, music, and soundscapes to enhance immersion. I balance the three pillars—roleplay (priority), combat, and exploration—based on player preference and session flow. I aim to be a storyteller, impartial arbiter, and facilitator, favoring creativity, character development, and the "rule of cool" over rigid rules. I encourage deep PC interaction and growth, strive to make the world reactive and alive, and consistently check in through tools like Stars and Wishes to ensure an enjoyable, evolving experience.
