About the adventure

Vagari: To wander, to go here and there, to cross. Far in the frozen north an eclectic collection of scholars, arcanists, scientists, and artificers, have managed at long last to create an Arcane Gateway to a whole new world. This land, known by its inhabitants as "Vagari" is recognizable in some ways and wholly alien in others. As adventurers, drawn by the call of new stories to tell, people to meet, and places to see, you will be among the first to travel to this strange new land and to discover its secrets. Once you have arrived in Vagari you shall find yourselves in the industrious island-spanning city of Mentagorus, where magic meets machinery, and very likely will become embroiled in the delicate game of power-dynamics as you navigate the various districts, aid or oppose would-be leaders, and dive for secrets buried beneath the waves. When things calm down in the city, you shall have allies, enemies, questions, and quests which shall in turn guide you all over this expansive realm. You can delve into the mystery behind the towering "Veilstones", ancient obelisks charged with arcane energy. Defeat rampaging hordes of monsters mutated by centuries of wild magic and scour time-worn ruins for mighty artefacts of a time long forgotten in "The Wildlands", the uncontrollable wilderness which dominates the land between settlements. Sail upon the seas, diving into the depths to challenge the followers of Krakens or to explore the hidden cities which flourish beneath the waves. Discover and carve your own tale of triumph and exploration onto this world.

About me

I am a fantasy and literature loving nerd. From a young age I was entranced by things like Dragon Quest and Magic the Gathering as well as Theatre, so when I first heard about Dungeons and Dragons, a combination of fantasy and storytelling I knew I had to give it a try. Eventually I managed to find some friends and put together my first, terrible campaign; we had a blast. It was messy, and the rules we got wrong, and the story was nothing, but the act of playing and sharing in a story was liberating, and I was hooked. I have been running DnD 5E (2014), since shortly after its release in 2014, and have always found it to be my favorite system. During this period I have completed several campaigns alongside close friends and new friends made through the hobby. I have primarily run DnD 5E in this time, but I have also explored several other systems as well. Some personal favorites, for different reasons, are: Demigods/Masks/Monster of the Week/Anything PBtA, Cyberpunk Red, Agon, Dread, and Fate Core. I have been running a private Curse of Strahd campaign for a year or so now, but am eager to find more opportunities to DM and explore these tales with many more people.

Safety

How Trevor creates a safe table

During Session 0 Everyone will have the opportunity to share, privately or openly, their lines and veils. Then I will share openly the results, so that everyone is aware of the comfort level of the table as a whole, but no one feels pressured to express something right away. Throughout the course of the campaign we will have frequent checks ins, both following sessions for that particular session, and after several have passed to refresh any potential changes to their comfort level.
