About the adventure

🧙‍♂️ Isregego University is my homebrew high fantasy magical college setting I've run with 3 different gaming groups, with the longest one going from levels 3-12 over 50+ sessions. It has been an incredible joy to custom-build every run of this setting around the player characters at my table, with one run featuring abominations pouring out of mysterious portals, another inspired by the evil Chandrian from The Name of the Wind, and my latest one requested to have "beachy" vibes by the players. So, of course, we're going to build this run of Isregego around YOU!! ❓ Am I the right GM for you? I hope so! My GM'ing style leans a bit more heavily on the roleplay pillar of play, so if you like talking to NPCs to gather information, meet odd personalities, and forge allies, then you will enjoy my games. While not making it the focus of my games, I do also greatly enjoy combat and I put in an effort to make it dynamic, relevant to the story, and mechanically interesting (I also love homebrewing monsters!). ‼️ PLEASE NOTE: I will be running this using 2014 rules for D&D 5e. 🤓 Some things to know about the basics of the setting that we've kept through every run: - Isregego is divided into schools of learning that closely align with the 13 D&D classes, with each having a unique vibe, fun and/or mysterious head professors, and plenty of secrets to discover - Accolades: A homebrew social currency used at the school that reinforces a hierarchy of the student body and is used to unlock magical items and club/extracurricular opportunities - Wizard Polo: A homebrew sport I developed that feels a bit like a full-contact game of ultimate frisbee (with magic, of course) 📅 I've planned this run of Isregego University to go from levels 3-8 over the course of about 15 sessions, running on a weekly basis (excluding some holidays and such). I welcome the chance that this group works really well together and chooses to do a sophomore year at Isregego University!

About me

👋 Hi! I've been running TTRPGs at least once a week for 8 years and talk a whole lot about these games that kinda changed my life on socials as @TheTenaciousDM. 🧙‍♂️ I love building homebrew worlds and settings - I've developed dozens of them! I take particular pride in my magical college setting: The University of Isregego. It's a high-fantasy college where players compete for prestige within the hierarchy of the student body while facing weirdly common incursions of evil forces that I've run for 3 different groups (the longest one went from levels 3-12 over 50+ sessions!) 📖 I like to keep the story and the game flowing at my tables and I value prep, systems, and tools that help us stay immersed. I build my worlds around my players, both in prep and as they make decisions in our sessions, and frequently follow my players' curiosity as it veers off from the main story (and conveniently becomes the new main story). This is a 𝘤𝘰𝘭𝘭𝘢𝘣𝘰𝘳𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘷𝘦 storytelling experience we're engaging in, and I do my best to stand out of my players' way so that they can shine as they so often do. 👊 I'm also incredibly excited to bring a special game type I've developed with fellow DMs: Legendary Fight Club. Skip right to the boss fight with the high-level characters you've been dreaming about playing and face down the toughest monsters you can find in the Monster Manual. 🏳️‍🌈 I strive to make sure my games are spaces of inclusivity and are always LGBTQIA+ friendly, and I take great care to make sure everyone is safe and comfortable at my table. ❤️

Character creation

Creating your character

We will be deciding most everything about character creation, including rolling for stats, during our session zero! You are welcome, however, to start planning character(s) you might want to play with the knowledge that we will be using most official D&D 5E (2014 rules) material to create Level 3 characters.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

We will be using Roll20 as our VTT and Discord for voice/video (although video is not required to play). Please ensure that you have an account on both of these platforms prior to session zero. You can join our server on Discord here: https://discord.gg/DmTtZnj9cx You'll get a link to the Roll20 campaign upon sign up.

What Jeffrey, The Tenacious DM brings to the table

I do my best to create an inclusive space where I serve as the facilitator of fun and the biggest fan of my players. I also aim to create an immersive environment for the players at my table, spending time creating and sourcing art for characters and scenes, and finding music to fit the mood as well. I've lovingly developed many of the characters in this campaign over many sessions, with several having fun and unique voices and quirks. And I expect to make quite a few more for characters that we'll need for this campaign! I lean towards running with Rules as Written, but will often bend the rules to acommodate new players and I love rewarding players for creativity with advantage and other boons.

Homebrew rules

Drinking a potion is a bonus action. I use flanking rules. I like rolling death saving throws for players, but will leave that to a vote in session zero.

Safety

How Jeffrey, The Tenacious DM creates a safe table

I will be utilizing the Monte Cook RPG Content Checklist to ensure all players disclose their comfort levels with sensitive topics! We will also use the Open Door safety tool for in-game safety, take 10-15 minute mid-session breaks, and conclude with Aftercare to ensure players have space to verbally process after sessions.
