About the adventure
The age of embers is set in a soulsborne inspired homebrew D&D game. the game itself will primarily be this dark, gritty story as the players make their way through the horrors of this world, learning truths once hidden and facing the unfathomable. the mechanics follow the standard D&D fifth edition mechanics with a few additions: the introduction of a rolling, parrying and reposting mechanic, estus and ashen flaskes for healing and spell slot replenishment, condition that will add and extra edge to the grittiness of the story, custom bosses with unique abilities, new items to help players in their travels and battles, boons that can grant players imrpoved abilities and a number of dynamic NPCs.

About me
i've been a DM for 6 years. i enjoy doing voices, running gritty, dark dnd games and i enjoy light hearted jokes. i'm great with helping character creation and devloping homebrew. i've run games ranging from standard Dungeons and Dragons to a custom cyberpunk game using D&D as a base.
View Profile →Character creation
Creating your character
the starting level is level 1. stats are manual rolled. you may reroll your stats up to 5 times. prefered character creation location is D&D beyond. all base D&D races and classes are allowed. create your character with a soulsborne tone in mind.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
have a dicord account to join the game server. D&D beyond for character creation.
What Ethan brings to the table
i provide: ambient music. tough combat encounters. rule of cool. deep roleplay moments. and detailed descriptions.
Homebrew rules
characters respawn at a bonfire instead of staying dead. bonfires are the only way to have a long or short rest. killing enemies and bosses grants the players gold pieces. players start with 3 estus flasks and 3 ashen flasks each. players can teleport between bonfires. rolling can reduce the chances of being hit. parrying and reposting can improve damage against an enemy. the "quick break" mechanic allows me the DM to present epic cinematic scenes while rewarding players. insight can be spent like gold can but enough of it reveals secrets and too much can reveal the horrors of the cosmos.
