About the adventure
For years I have been writing the setting of a homebrew campaign and the world is ready to be explored and discovered by a band of daring adventurers. Seriven is a collective of nations marked by a rich and extensive history, defined in Ages, each lasting thousands of years filling the land with ruins and riches. My goal is to create a powerful narrative in a series of sessions geared towards collaborative storytelling. Session zero will be ALOT of exposition on my part and where we will create the groups shared backstory. Sessions 1 and 2 will be played as commoners with no class, as you will “discover” your class in session. Literally playing the start of your characters backstory in a sense. Sessions 3, 4, and 5 will be played at levels 1, 2, and 3 respectively and after that, the world is open to be explored. The world is alive and full of adventure, but it falls to you as the player(s) to take risks and leave your mark. Tell your own story, develop your character, and most of all have fun. I will gladly accept new and veteran players for this campaign, but be warned, commitment is key. This campaign has an undetermined length and the story cannot be written without the hands to hold the quill. Are you ready to cast the die and discover what fate has in store? The ink is far from dry, and a world of untold adventure awaits!!!

About me
I am a long time player of D&D with both DM and Player experience. I use D&D as my creative outlet and have created an almost fully fleshed out world in which my players are free to explore and leave their mark upon.

Creating your character
Standard Array for stats. Naturally you will already have a character in mind and I am excited to see what you have made! Session zero will be extensive as we will all get to know one another and decide the kind of story we want to tell as a group. For race I suggest sticking to the Player’s Handbook. I have few exceptions, so long as we can justifiably give your character a place in the world to thrive and leave their mark! We will be using a combination of experience gain and milestone level up systems, keeping everyone in the party within 1 level of the average group level. Combat/Encounter experience is distributed evenly amongst the party. I reward bonus experience for exceptional role play and creativity.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
This is my Discord link: I plan to use D&D Beyond and the tools it provides to run sessions.
What Dylan brings to the table
The dice determine what you can and cannot do, I am simply a humble moderator of fate. Granted, some attempts are impossible (a Nat 20 will not convince the king to give you his crown) but you are always more than free to try! I strongly believe in degrees of success and failure, not yes and no results. You will often hear me say “yes and,” “no but,” or “are you sure?” I am a forgiving God of Stories, so if something results in a way that is no fun for everyone, we will take a moment to rewrite what transpired and I will take whatever punishment the Dice Gods have in your place. Rule of Cool within reason. Rules as Written or Rules as Intended ultimately falls to my interpretation. In the spirit of moving the story forward and not interrupting play for the entire table, I am more than happy to take criticism or advice, and discuss disagreed upon rulings, outside of play time. Open and clear communication is one of my love languages.
Homebrew rules
Crits deal the full damage of the attack plus the dice roll. Death Saves are a secret except to the DM and the downed player. On level up, you gain both ASI and a Feat. Roll hit-point increases with advantage.

How Dylan creates a safe table
Players will bring up any topics or themes they wish to avoid during session zero and all will agree avoid them. Should anything in session become too uncomfortable, the player(s) will signal to me and we will pause.
