About the adventure
Just like anywhere else...Obojima has its secrets. There must be darkness to see the stars...so we travel by night, when Obojima is mercurial and unpredictable. You go looking for answers and find more questions...sifting truth from Urban Legends, solving puzzles meant to keep you in the dark and uncovering evidence that even the wildest conspiracy theories have some truth in them. Our darkly whimsical adventure takes place in surreal locations with eccentric creatures that don't shine when the sun's out. This is a truly collaborative story where the world evolves based on your character choices. You'll experience darkly whimsical plot twists with eerily familiar tie ins to your character's relationships, fears, secrets, and your goals will shape the dynamically changing content I build. WHAT "CUSTOMIZED" MEANS TO YOU This campaign is truly a Studio Ghibili-esque interpretation of the campaign setting built to give you a deeply satisfying and profoundly personal experience. This frame includes: LOW RISK INTRODUCTION: This is a fully realized mini campaign, with a concrete ending, that also serves as the start of a longer (completely optional) campaign. Are you curious enough to continue? EASY AND ORGANIC CONNECTION: Your story begins before this story and so does this campaign. The pre-interview and launch is designed to give you and your fellow adventurers a deep connection to the world and each other. MAIN CHARACTER ENERGY: You are not random adventurers who stumble into a challenge. You are the main characters. Your exact character is the one needed in this campaign and your backstory is central to the campaign arc. No two campaigns I've run look alike. The overall narrative will weave around your character's narrative arc through customized content, deeply connected storylines, personalized rewards and whimsical character attention that unfolds throughout the campaign. Your story IS the story. UNIQUE CONTENT: This chapter is one of numerous connected pathways and adventures I've developed to take adventurers on a fantastical journey and deeply satisfying resolution to a mysterious storyline. You'll interact with uniquely motivated NPCs, fantastical settings and challenges built specifically to enhance YOUR story. MY TABLE Play at my table is about challenging adventures that can be resolved as easily through creative thinking as combat. Together we'll create dramatically engaging action without sacrificing the whimsy of this uniquely fantastical world. Beginners Welcome! I have a tested system to bring you up to speed quickly and support you until you feel confident. Your epic adventures awaits...

About me
Remember Max from "Where the Wild Things Are"? He's my spirit animal and I design games for all of the Max-identifying people out there. We're chronically over-scheduled, overworked and disconnected. My favorite thing, by far, is reminding people that they once played. That it was wonderful. And showing them, they can feel that again. I want to offer up worlds to those who’ve never played & those who don’t think they have the time and/or patience to play. These players want everything dramatically simplified. They came to play, not to work. This is my forte. My career has been about making corporate change easy and enjoyable. If I can do that for IT programs, I can certainly do that with games. I GM for those that didn’t realize they needed play. ***Got family and/or friends you miss hanging out with? I got you. ***Need something more novel for your date nights than dinner and a movie? I got you. ***Craving social interaction but also from the comfort of your own place? I got you. ***Have a partner who you wish would play RPGs with you? I've got you. I’ve built the process & materials I wish I’d had when I first started playing. And I've refined them by testing, listening to the feedback, & reworking them. Message me a quote that best represents you from "Where the Wild Things Are" for a super secret special custom magic item in your first campaign with me. So, Max...shall we have an adventure?

Creating your character
Once you sign up, I will send you a message in Start Playing with a link to our game in DND Beyond as well as a link to the Discord server. If you don't have the Discord app, be sure to get that first as on it, you will find: • Step by step instructions for how to make your character. • A quick guide to help you make your character decisions for this particular adventure. • A Consent agreement, which is required by each player and will help me maintain a safe space for us all. • A note on expectation setting. • And, a place for planning, chatting and maybe a little offline role play.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
If you haven't yet: 1. Download the Discord App and create a free account there. 2. Visit Dndbeyond.com and create a free account there. In the session confirmation message I send you once you register, I will send you: An invitation to join our party's Discord community as well as a link to the connect with the campaign on DNDBeyond.com so that you have access to all of my character building materials. On our shared DISCORD CHANNEL, you will find a Pre-Play Prep folder. This will give you specific steps and information about how to build you character specifically for this campaign. Contact me on either Start Playing or Discord if you have ANY questions. I’m here to help. We'll have a Session Zero, which is designed to clear up any outstanding technical set up questions, help people complete their characters and set expectations for game play. We’ll also establish relationships between your characters in this session. If we can get through all all of that quickly, we can actually play a mini-session in in our first session together, which will give you a feel for the flavor of the campaign. I’d love to sweep all of you away…right away. So don’t hesitate to reach out if you get stuck or have questions. Oh, and a webcam is not required, but recommended. As your guide and story keeper, I will typically be on camera.
What KimPossible brings to the table
I provide my players: • A rich library of character building content on DND Beyond. • A well-balanced, encounter-rich adventure with enough role-play and connection to make players care about those encounters. • Maps, visual aids and music to provide enough sensory input to get you started, but not so much that your imagination takes a back seat. • Tokens for your characters on the battle maps to help you know where you are in game play. • Tense and exhilarating situations balanced with humor and casual moments of connection. • Storytelling that includes surprises and character arcs for each individual character. • A safe and well-paced adventure for those who are new to Role Playing Games. • Game play that prioritizes role playing and story over rules. We will abide by the rules of play as long as it is additive to game play. Please note that this is not a RAW table. • Surprises and Easter Eggs hidden throughout all of my adventures for players to find and use. (Hey, I like playing games…all kinds.)
Homebrew rules
• Gifted Crits: When you roll a critical hit or critical fail on a roll to attack, or to save against an attack or a spell, the damage is calculated by rolling regular attack damage plus adding max die damage. Example: 1d6 damage, you roll a 3, that would be calculated as 3 (rolled) +6 (max die) for a total 9 damage. • Drinking a potion counts as a bonus action. • Exceptions to rules will be made for well-designed and described moves that add excitement, humor and/or drama to the narrative, and could earn Heroic Inspiration. • Heroic inspiration may be stacked. And I give out inspiration for inspired role play, moments of self-sacrifice and clever recall/crafty use of information. Oh, and I have guidelines about "Rules Lawyering" at my tables. I'm quite comfortable being challenged on a ruling. There is no way I know every detail of every game rule as written. However, if we cannot come to an agreement quickly, my ruling stands and if further discussion is required, it will be taken outside of game play time. I actually love learning from my players. But this is about respecting the time of the others at the table.

How KimPossible creates a safe table
I take this very seriously. It's my job to ensure everyone at my table is comfortable enough to enjoy themselves. Everyone is welcome at my table, except for those who disregard the comfort and needs of others. I have a zero tolerance policy for: • Bigotry or hatred of any kind. • Any behavior that consistently compromises game play or consistently makes other players uncomfortable. Any Player versus Player encounter (combat or romance) will need to be cleared with both players and me prior to advancing in game. I will ask that everyone fill out a Consent Checklist and submit it to me at least two days prior to game play so that I can adjust any content necessary due to identified issues. We will have quick check ins at the end of each session, not only to see how the session went for everyone, but also to check in on triggering content and everyone's feeling about how it is being managed. I will ask weekly for Stars and Wishes to be posted publicly in our Discord channel or sent to me privately if preferred. My private messaging will remain open during game play and I will be encouraging everyone to message me immediately if anything, whether it is with the story, me or another player, is making them uncomfortable. I will pause game play immediately with a break in order to respond. I have listed potential content triggers, and will bring new ones up if they arise in our collaborative adventure. But please know that they are treated lightly and without a lot of description or graphic portrayals. I think I run a very low-potential-triggers game, but please, if we are ever in a place during game play where you feel triggered: - Say or text something in Discord, - Message me in Discord privately, - Or, go into the "Secret Room" provided and I will call for a break and meet you there. We will go over this in Session Zero, but the "Secret Room" is generally for secrets in game between player and the GM...or between two players. But it can be used for this as well without alerting anyone to your sensitivity. You will never be asked to explain the reason for your discomfort, only precisely what in the game caused it so that it can be avoided in the future.
