About the adventure

Experience life and adventure in the heart of Waterdeep! Step into a bustling urban campaign where your character’s home and business are at the center of the story. This campaign blends slice-of-life management with city-wide intrigue, faction politics, and roleplay-heavy adventures. Your choices shape your establishment, the city, and the story itself. šŸ˜ļø Tavern-Centric Gameplay: Manage staff, host events, and interact with neighbors, friends, and rivals — your space in the city is alive! šŸ‘„ Deep Roleplay & Player Agency: Your character’s backstory influences NPCs, city events, and the development of your establishment. šŸ“š Slice-of-Life Meets Adventure: Downtime is meaningful — study, craft, research, train, or run your business while still engaging in quests and city events. šŸŽ Immersive NPCs: Every NPC has distinct voices, mannerisms, and personalities, making interactions memorable. šŸ”„ Flexible & Customizable: Adventures adapt to your characters and playstyle. Combat exists, but story and urban life remain central. āš”ļø Grounded, Low-Level Campaign: Mainly level 1–3 for a realistic, approachable experience. Progression comes from magical items, hirelings, abilities, and information rather than just leveling. šŸ› ļø Beginner-Friendly Support: Guidance provided for new roleplayers; speak in third person, write text, whisper privately, or do 1-on-1 sessions to ease into roleplay. šŸ“† Long-Term Campaign Potential: 30+ sessions allow for character growth, evolving operations, and ongoing city adventures.

About me

Me Hey there! I’m Pedro, but online I go by TompsonX. I used to run The Adventurer’s Guild, a D&D 5e community server with over 5,000 sessions played, and I’ve been a professional DM for over 8 years. I currently run two active campaigns, but I’m almost always looking for players in the GMT 18:30–23:00 time slot. My games focus on roleplay and meaningful combat, usually running about 3 hours per session. I like to offer a free trial session so you can see if our styles click before committing. If your schedule doesn’t match my regular campaigns, I’m also available for private or custom sessions—these are a bit more expensive, but perfect if you want to play at a different time. My goal is simple: to make each game fun, challenging, and memorable, while letting your characters shine and shape the story along the way.

Character creation

Creating your character

We will create them together during session 0 or beforehand! We will be starting at level 1 The characters will be using point buy We will be using the 2024 ruleset, unless the group prefers not to, but we will not mix the rulesets together Ultimately the mechanics matter much less in this campaign than making a character that you truly want to play as

What to expect

Preparing for the session

We will likely be playing through Roll20 with Discord for voice, Roll20 will also be used for music. Roll 20 accounts and Discord accounts are required. Microphone is required and ideally a lack of background noise, or your microphone set to push to talk. Cameras are absolutely optional and I rarely use mine unless my players are also going to want to use theirs.

What TompsonX brings to the table

The full mechanical ruleset setup on the virtual tabletop, with automation to make the game run quicker. Curated background music Battle maps, handouts, pictures for flavor Unique NPCs which I will (attempt to) voice act I try to stick to the rules as written in combat, but when it comes to roleplay I absolutely embrace rule of cool and interesting uses of abilities to do more than what they are meant to do. Example : Hypnotic Pattern in roleplay to hypnotize someone for longer than the spell would usually do in combat.

Homebrew rules

Nothing whatsoever if I can help it. The only time I would make a homebrew rule or ruling is if it's something that's clearly not making sense with all the information that we have at our disposal or the scene at hand calling for it.

Safety

How TompsonX creates a safe table

Session 0 is certainly my biggest way to make sure everyone is in the same page. I like to ask specficially if there is any content that the player is uncomfortable with to make sure it's not included. Other than that while I don't usually use any of the other official safety tools, I've used the X O cards and ultimately I am very in favor of open communication. If something is bothering you please reach out to me.
