About the adventure
Fighting your way through dungeons and avoiding dangerous traps has been fun, but it hasn't been far from your mind that each perilous quest could be your last. How many times are you going to duck into the sketchy alleyway to meet with someone promising you a job before it turns out to be the ambush that finally gets you? You know that your luck will run out one day, it does for everyone. Despite getting riches handed to you for bringing back wayward princes and defeating dark wizards planning world domination, you've not been the greatest with your money and settling down seems a long time away. Unless... maybe you find other like minded adventurers wanting to get out of the business of being a sword or wand for hire and instead put down roots and use your skills for financial gain. --- Ledgers and Loot is a campaign focused around economy and shopkeeping simulation. While there might be the occasional tussle, the main focus of play will be haggling, acquiring, creating, marketing, and expanding from a tiny starter shop to being a name recognized from one side of the continent to the other. That's not to say there won't be devestating set backs and challenges to overcome. In fact, trying to navigate an economy where kobolds could wreck the next harvest or a competing shop decides to dabble in a little arson might be even more challenging that your usual method of a fireball to solve the problem.

About me
I am an experienced writer, teacher, and GM. I first played D&D at college and quickly became a part of a friend group that met up weekly to play D&D, Mage, and Pathfinder. After college, I both played and was the GM for games that met at the local gaming shop for about five years. When I started my career as a high school teacher, I gamified my classroom to be a D&D style rpg where my students could earn spells and level up in a world filled with lore and bosses they could defeat for rewards. Post teaching, I spent some time with an online group with that did recording for Youtube and I was the GM for one of the recorded D&D 5e campaigns. All in all, I've been playing for 20 years and been a GM for about 18 of those years.

Creating your character
Character creation will be done during the first session so that players can work out a desirable combination of skills that will work for their business idea. We will be starting at level 5 under the assumption that you are all seasoned adventurers wanting to "retire." We'll go over specifics and character questions during the first session.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
We will be using Discod and Roll20, both of them are free to sign up for.
