About the adventure
Adventuring alone can be difficult and dangerous for any who take up blade, bow, or magic. But with a bonded, unique creature companion, that journey can be both fun and exciting. When you take on a bonded companion you gain benefits far beyond a simple familiar granted to those who take a measure of arcane training. Whether you want to be a monster hunter, mercenary for hire, engage in political intrigue and espionage or a combination of all of the above, you can do it all in Ezrahn, Realm of Aether. This new mechanic of a creature "Bonded Ally" that levels with you and has their own feats/traits to explore is something I've been working on for awhile in one form or another. I think a solo PBP campaign is a perfect way to explore and showcase this mechanic, and my small group live game enjoys having the extra oomph when necessary for those tense situations.

Creating your character
We will schedule a Session Zero before/during your first week in order to cover character creation, backstory and goals for your adventure. Stats are 4d6, drop the lowest. You’re supposed to be above average so no stats below 10 base. (Reroll ones or the whole set to achieve this.) Races(30+) have been customized and expanded and are available on DnDBeyond as homebrew in the campaign link shared in Discord. Starting level will be 1. Can utilize any books shared via campaign, which will be added to as additional resources are purchased. Anything not tied in DndBeyond can be discussed in Discord or during Session Zero. Your Free Session Zero and free/discounted 1st week will also be arranged so that we can make sure we vibe.
As this is a solo PBP campaign, the only members of the party will be you, your Bonded Ally, and any NPCs you recruit along the way.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
You will need an account on DnDBeyond. You will need daily access to Discord. We will be running the game as an ongoing chat with In Character channel for gameplay, and an Out of Character channel for all other communication. During the Session Zero we can work out the details of your character goals and what your special companion will be that will level with you. (Some examples that have already been planned are a Mimic, Direwolves, a Deathwolf variant, a Couatl, a Displacer Beast, and potentially dragons or pseudodragons.) Beyond that, just your imagination and a willingness to explore the realm of Ezrahn with your new Bonded Ally.
What Andrew Ferrell brings to the table
As a play-by-post, our sessions will go on throughout each week. The game will take place in multiple channels of a Discord. The Discord will house the text streams for the gaming, I'll also supplement the experience with visuals for NPCs, maps, items, and other things we will encounter along the way right in the stream. Gameplay details Each character will have an in character and out of character channel. I am a firm Ally of the LGBTQ community and will not tolerate TRASH behavior. If you exhibit such behavior you will be removed from the server and no refund will be issued. The following will NOT be featured in my games: Sexual Assault/Non-Consensual Sex Exploitation of Minors Real life imagery of sabotage/destruction [GIFs, Photos, and Videos] Player-on-Player gaslighting, bullying, or negativity
Homebrew rules
Healing Potions can be done as a Bonus action to roll for healing, or a full action to confer max. Critical Hits deal max dice damage + modifiers + roll of dice (for example, your d8 +2 longsword attack would do 8(max dice) + 2(mod) + d8 damage).
