About the adventure
Hello, I'm running a game of Dragon of Icespire Peak. This is a level 1-7 module that is great for new players, but has fun for experience players too. I have run this module before, and will be making small changes based on the players who join and the characters they bring. Icespire peak tells the story of an area dealing with the knock on affects of a dragon moving into the area. While wrestling with all these issues you encounter many classic dnd creatures and a small town trying to get by. Behind the scenes bad actors are trying to spread more chaos while ordinary people are trying to survive. Icespire Peak is rightly considered a good opening module to first try in DND, but it is also perfect for experienced players who want to experience a classic. Session 0 and 1st game is always free.

About me
Hello, I'm Josh a gm who found that he loved running stories with people, being surprised at both rolls of the dice and player choices. I try to run a fun and safe table where you can sink into a character and roleplay in a world that engages. I have run fully homebrew games as well as pre written modules, and found that I like to take peoples characters and wind them into the narrative. I want to give this a professional shot and develop into the best GM I can. Please get in touch if you are looking for a game. I have always got either games running or being planned. I aim to run about 6-8 games at a time, if you see more ads than that, I am trying out what people are interested in. If you like the look of a game I have planned but the time doesn't work for you, feel free to reach out and maybe we can work out a time that works.

Creating your character
At session 0 I will go over the basic info players need to know about the setting, then work with you over discord and dnd beyond to make their characters. This game starts at level 1, but goes to level 3 quickly with steady progress from there to level 7. I am fine with any species as I can make any needed addustments to the world. Point Buy, Standard Array, and rolled are all fine. If rolled we will just do 2 rolls at session 0 and you can pick which. (Yes terrible luck on a set can be rerolled) Everyone gets a free feat as long as it is reasonable. For example great weapon master is probably not a fit for a level 1 adventurer, but Chef absolutely. I have a list if you need help. If you have a character idea but are not sure how to implement it I can help you with that. I can also will have some premade characters to use if that is easier for you. I wouldn't recommend reading or googling the modules Dragon of Icespire Peak, Divine Contention, Storm Lords Wrath or Sleeping Dragons Wake. Mostly just because it can ruin the surprise of playing.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
-You will need at least a mic, I will be using a webcam as it helps me communicate. But there is no pressure to also use a camera yourselves. -You will need a free account in D&D Beyond so I can share content. (https://www.dndbeyond.com/) -A discord account to join the server.(https://discord.com/) -I am happy to help teach the rules, and help with making characters.
What Josh brings to the table
I will be setting up a discord server for the game so we can be on the same call. This can also be a space to share fun things and chat. I will be sharing D&D Beyond content so everyone can have as many game options as possible. For game maps I use owlbear rodeo, this lets you use any image you wish to represent your character. I have worked with experienced and beginner players in this module before, so whatever experience you bring, I am more than ready to work with you. One of the things I enjoy most is taking your character ideas and winding them into the world. I will be giving players some information about the story and world so they can build a shape for their characters. I will also be offering 121 calls to help build your characters so you have a player character (PC) that you want to embody. This module has several combats, how I run them will be determined by my players. I have run games with people who want an easy hack and slash, and others who want a crunchy challenge. It just depends who you are and what your preferences are. I try to give recurring npcs their own feel. Rules wise I am generally rules as intended. But I will always be up to hearing out "ok, i want to try something". The vibe I want at my table is people comfortable and having fun, and excited to play again.
Homebrew rules
-Potions as a bonus action even if using 2014 characters. Using an action to apply a health potion applies the full healing on a successful DC12 medicine check -Considering trying stacking advantage, because rolling more dice is fun. -Medicine can use INT instead of WIS if you are proficient. -Religion can use WIS instead of INT if you are proficient. -Hundreds of Homebrew items, spells, feats, as well as a few species and subclasses.

How Josh creates a safe table
In session 0 I will go over the general content of the game, highlighting any possible issues people could have. I will also keep open communication throughout the whole game for any issues people have or want to bring up. I set very clear boundaries for the game and fellow player behaviour. It is important everyone is comfortable.
