It's all disco and dancing until the Horrors arrive...
Picture it: Roseville Beach, 1979. The disco music is pumping. People are dancing. Nobody sees that strange thing in the shadows. It's probably fine?

About the adventure
**No experience required! New players welcomed!!** Welcome to Moonlight on Roseville Beach! This is a queer game of disco and cosmic horror taking place on coastal town Roseville Beach in 1979. What is Roseville Beach? A queer haven in 1979, welcoming people from all over the world (and beyond) to be safe within its borders from the bigoted world outside. However, life in Roseville presents its own dangers with supernatural occurrences, dangerous magical beings, and other monstrosities from the great beyond. Players choose between a variety of playbooks to embody a summer resident of Roseville Beach: - The Fresh Face (you are newly out of the closet and naive to the ways of the world) - The Scandalous (your past continues to haunt you, and it followed you to Roseville Beach) - The Shifter (you possess the ability to shapeshift, sometimes not of your own choosing) - The Stranger (you are not of this world, but where did you come from and why are you here?) - The Witch (you are in tune with the magic around you, whether others believe you or not) - The Familiar (you are an animal who once belonged to a witch or sorcerer, who is free but longs for a found family) Our campaign will cover a summer at Roseville Beach, uncovering the mysteries that it presents while you're staying there. It is built on a d6 dice pool system, which is easy to learn and keeps play moving smoothly.

About me
With over 15+ years of TTRGP experience, I am someone who is enthusiastic about running games for folks! I am currently the co-host and founder of The QueerXP actual play podcast, where we have run close to 100 indie TTRPGs over the course of the show. I love telling stories with people and having a chance to explore complicated themes and make difficult choices through the game. I have run everything from one-shot adventures to multi-year campaigns with friends. I believe coming to the table should be a safe and fun experience for all players, which informs my GM style.
View Profile →Character creation
Creating your character
Character creation happens during session zero. It is a collaborative process where players will determine their connections, their abilities and skills, as well as strange events that have impacted the characters prior to the story starting.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
Players will simply need to join a discord server, which will be linked once a player books the game. We will schedule a session zero prior to the campaign starting and use that space to prepare for the campaign. This game is rules lite and easy to jump into!
What FalconWizard brings to the table
This campaign will be a wonderful mix of queerness, supernatural horrors, and at its core a story about chosen family fighting the darkness. You should expect this to lean more on role play than combat, as Moonlight doesn't have "combat" rules built into it. It's a mystery solving game with lot of magic, supernatural forces, and cosmic horrors. In this system, I tend to stay fairly close to Rules as Written, but only because the rules are purposely open to allow for player creativity in your actions. A 1970s Disco playlist will be shared with players for the sessions, if they so choose to have that playing during their experience.

Safety
How FalconWizard creates a safe table
Prior to session zero, I will ask folks to fill out a brief lines & veils document, which will be asking "what are your hard stops" and "what are things that are okay, but not too much / things that we should fade to black?" During the session, we will use the X card as our main safety tool. This means if something is uncomfortable or triggering, we will pause, reset, and redirect the scene. After sessions are over, we will take time to check-in see how players are feeling and what they hope to see in future sessions. Additionally, breaks are built in for players, as needed.
