About the adventure

Light of Xaryxis is inspired by science-fiction pulp adventures such as Flash Gordon, John Carter of Mars, the comic Valérian et Laureline by Pierre Christin and Jean-Claude Mézières, and the film Jupiter Ascending by the Wachowski sisters. In this adventure, brave heroes must defeat otherworldly foes to save their planet. Absurd plot twists undercut the sense of urgency, keeping the heroes on their toes as they stumble from one cliffhanger to the next.

Creating your character

A standard array or point buy is acceptable. Random: Roll once. Assign them to the desired stats. Then roll on the following table and add a +2 to that Ability. A lot of monsters and races are inhabitants of the astral plane and they don't need to breathe, eat or sleep. Most of them live a very long time. Magic and psionic abilities among many of the species is common at least with simple stuff. Flight abilities would be helpful. Spells that remove your need to breathe, eat or sleep would probably be helpful. Characters will start the campaign at Level 2 for the prologue. The prologue may be 1-5 sessions depending on the group's desires. Once we get into the main campaign, we will have reached or be advanced to level 5. HP: You can roll or choose the average. Monster Tips As far as monster varieties the collection is well balanced. Both in what they are vulnerable, resistant, and immune to. So no one trait dominates them. However, here’s a few I have as a suggestion for ones that seem more common. Resistances: Radiant Condition Immunities: Charmed, Exhaustion, blinded, paralyzed. Damage Vulnerabilities: Radiant. Books Used D&D Player's Handbook Dungeon Masters Guide Boo’s Astral Menagerie Astral Adventurer’s Guide Light of Xaryxis.

What Nate brings to the table

I will bring my wealth of narrative storytelling ability to use this prepared module to suit the pace for the group. I will customize it to your characters and give opportunities for you all to shine, using the module as a skeleton for the custom game that feels like your characters have real agency and impact on the story around them. I have ambient music, theme music and sometimes sound effects for the game as well as a VTT experience with battle maps with lighting and animation effects as well as theater of the mind and description to make the world immersive. I will bring a balanced story style with a bit of everything from role playing, combat, mysteries and puzzles.
