About the adventure

🔴This is the english live campaign, text me if you're looking for the PbP or french one. Other time slots and frequencies might also be available. 📙I use DnD dices, character sheets, abilities, skills, actions, initiative etc. Universe, creatures, magic or levelling are homebrew, with rules and stats based on immersion ("realistic" hp and damage based on DnD level 1 stats, evolution of skills and actions but no unrealistic hp scaling etc.). DnD classes can be used as inspiration, whole (with adapted levelling) or mixed, and totally original characters can be made with fun feats (with many premades ready). 🌎It's hard to live in peace in Myntalor, between whimsical gods and their crazy followers, conspiring guilds and megalomaniac wizards constantly fighting for power, over lost artifacts, ancient prophecies and farfetched evil plans, not to mention goblins, orcs, ogres, trolls, mermen, lizardmen and other creatures wandering the wilderness. ⚔️Dive into this heroic fantasy world with epic depth and fun and humoristic feats, to try and pacify its chaos, earn fortune, power and glory, solve your personal issues and/or the universe's mysteries. Players have lots of choices more or less roleplay or fighting and more or less easy or challenging, between local, personal and world-changing quests, featuring dungeons, mysteries, trips, schemes and even possibly politics and economics. 📜Your journey starts a century after the Vhlorx wars, from the new goddess appeared to scold Myntalor's people for using their magic for fighting and not prospering in peace. The legend says Vhlorx confined major magics into a few gems given to the leaders of the time, promising it would be freed again if they united their powers for the common good. Negotiations obviously failed and quickly turned to bloodbath, causing the loss of the gems, that are since on top of the artifacts most coveted by all the region's schemers.

About me

Happy to GM in english or french Je peux MJ en anglais ou en français 🔴English : I'm passionate about making fun immersive universes and characters, for players to enjoy without having to think about any rule or limitation. Hi, I started GMing few years ago for french and english speaking groups of friends, but I can never get enough sessions for how much I think and develop my universes, plots and characters all the time. So here I am to share that with more players. 🌎My first asset is to provide original immersive universes, with epic plots and fun feats, that I keep thinking about all the time and when you interact with it, to keep giving you consistent and fun roleplays and results to your actions, whatever they are. Players are always drawn to multiple possible quests at a time, that can be very different from one another, but all give a better understanding of the universe and its ultimate mysteries. Everything can be solved in whatever order, influence the rest, be skipped or missed. I'm never fixed on one way to solve something either, nor on one final result. Anyway, rich open-worlds. My best prepared universe is heroic fantasy but I'm also thinking about an inter-galactic universe. 🧙‍♀️From these universes I help players make deep, consistent characters with fun and epic feats and evolution paths, from their ideas or fun premade characters I prepared. I like to have characters evolve from their first adventure, ideal for beginners but also fun for experimented players, with unique feats more or less simple or complex, and very personalized possible evolutions. It is also totally possible to join with a more experimented character. 🖼️I ask the players what they want and like, and keep trying to get a feel of them in game to adapt, have more or less fighting, role-playing or mystery solving, longer or shorter, more or less challenging, mysteries harder or easier to solve etc. I try to provide the most immersive descriptions but also have some nice pictures, maps and tokens on Roll20. ⚔️I like to provide almost realistically challenging fights and situations, foes being as complex as any character, or easier gameplay to focus on the universe and its mysteries. 📜I use dnd rules for a convenient and clear frameset, but for fun and immersion I also like to adapt these rules with homebrew stuff fitting the universe and characters' specificity, and adapt again the rolls and results when players get creative beyond the written rules. I generally don't use DnD magics, and replace it with magic consistent with the universe's mysteries, nor DnD levelling, to keep realistic HP and instead focus characters' progression on their personal feats and milestones. 🗣️I like to roleplay NPCs, and I'm not expert at making voices, but I definitely try if players like it. Bref, un open-world bien rempli.

Character creation

Creating your character

There will be a free session 0 to discuss your character and expectations. You can start thinking your character but tell me about it as soon as possible - many things are possible beyond DnD and we don't use DnD magic - or wait for us to entirely build it up together. I have many various premade characters with fun backstories and feats, some complex, some simple, that I'm happy to give you as is or adapt to you for a better fit, or you can create your own and I'll be happy to help you find ideas or develop your own. Anyway we'll create it with DnD point buy rules for a clear and practical base, but I also like to add fun homebrew edits depending on character's feats. Magic specifically doesn't work in Myntalor like in DnD. Character progression will not be based on DnD either and your characters will never be unrealistically full of HP, but their feats will evolve according to personal milestones related to character's background, in-game experiences, new artifacts, player's choices (training/reconversion) etc. If you want to make your own, I can usually adapt to anything and I love to make your ideas consistent with the universe. Don't worry about DnD or other rules limiting your ideas, we make the rules, and we make them to be consistent with our ideas. If you need I got plenty of ideas but I'm happy to just follow yours, to let you make it your own, or give ideas only when you lack them etc. For example this universe is fit to be bound to a god, cult, guild or other backstory events for fun feats (I have several in mind but you can invent too if you want).

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Have a Discord account and a Roll20 account. We'll play from my Discord server and my Roll20 game, with a microphone, and with or without camera depending on players' preference. Discord and Roll20 are easy to use but I can help if necessary.

What Louis (English/Français) brings to the table

🌎I provide complex consistent universes, characters and factions, so that players feel it's an actual complete universe where they're not specifically pushed to anything, and there's no limit to them doing anything consistent there. 🧙‍♀️I help players make deep characters, from their ideas or fun premade characters I prepared, and use their backstories to give them personal quests intertwined with the rest, and fun gameplay feats. ⚔️I like to provide almost realistically challenging fights and situations, foes being as complex as any character, or swift fun ones. 📜I use dnd rules for a convenient and clear frameset, but I also like to adapt the rolls and results when players get creative and detail more specific actions. 🗣️I roleplay NPCs and encourage players to engage in fun roleplay too. I'm not expert at making voices but I definitely try some if players like it.

Homebrew rules

🔴Incorporated : Universe, creatures, magic or levelling are homebrew, with rules and stats based on immersion ("realistic" hp and damage based on DnD level 1 stats, evolution of skills and actions but no unrealistic hp scaling etc.). DnD classes can be used as inspiration, whole (with adapted levelling) or mixed, and totally original characters can be made with fun feats (with many premades ready). Hence most characters would have homebrew actions and feats related to their backstories and/or artifacts. These can evolve and more can appear with the game going. Some are more complex than others, but still simple enough and based on immersion and consistency. Other homebrew rules would basically be adapting to creative actions or original situations for immersion, like bonus malus, revised rules, improvised rolls and results or working on a new rule. With comfortable groups the fight turns and actions can be played faster and almost simultaneously for immersion. 🔴Ideas I have but wouldn't play without a well-known comfortable willing party : On the most extreme scenario, with the most comfortable players who like to go this far on immersion, I can play with basically no rules. This means mostly two things than can come together, separately, or partially. First one is no stats, levels or anything, only describing characters and what they're trained for and good at or not, then describing what you want to do, then roll, and I'll give you the most consistent result based on that. Second one is playing fights without turns, and with "real time" actions and reactions instead. Instead of having each player and foe attack on their turn and compare their rolls to opponent's armor, I like to describe the opponents's behavior on the instant so that you can choose to hit faster, dodge, parry or anything. This makes it more realistic but it can make it harder too.

Safety

How Louis (English/Français) creates a safe table

First I pitch players during session zero about what might happen during the game, and ask them about their expectations and limits, discuss Lines and Veils. Then X, N and O cards can be used in chat, video or vocal. Finally I'll debrief by text or vocal meeting to see if any of that needs adjusting.
