About the adventure

The Darkmoon Vale is a dangerous place, but Falcon’s Hollow is dying. A mysterious sickness known as the blackscour has swept through the town, leaving its residents hacking, gasping, and dying by the day. A clever herbalist named Laurel has traced the disease to a rare fungus contaminating the town’s spring, but she needs a team of brave souls to venture into the perilous Darkmoon Vale to collect the exotic reagents needed for her final, desperate cure. No one else dares to go… but that’s where you come in. This is a game about adventure, danger, and doing the right thing when no one else will. You and your party will explore ancient ruins, haunted groves, and monster-infested wilderness, meeting colorful NPCs and deciding how far you’re willing to go to save Falcon’s Hollow. Will you face the threats of the Vale together and emerge as heroes or fall to the dangers that lurk in the deep woods? This mini-campaign is designed to run for about 3–5 sessions and is perfect for both newcomers to Savage Worlds and experienced veterans. Pregenerated characters are available for those who want to dive in immediately, and I’ll happily help players create their own unique heroes if they prefer. Expect a mix of exploration, combat, and roleplay, with plenty of room for creative problem-solving and character moments along the way. If you enjoy fast-paced action, heroic choices, and the thrill of classic fantasy adventuring, this game is for you. Bring your courage, your wits, and your skill. Falcon’s Hollow is counting on you!

About me

I have been playing and running games for 20+ years and I love running games for more than I like playing in them. I claim the title of forever GM and I love it. I enjoy being the gamemaster and I have spent hours and hours reading books and practicing my craft. I have been running games for friends for most of my life, but I have also been going to conventions and running wild and fantastic one-shots. I love running games with a tactical and tactile space, including curated landing pages and minis with maps in the online space. I also love having props and things available for players in a physical space. Finally, I am a mental health professional so safety is at the forefront of all of my games. I understand that mental health is physical health. I am open and accepting, wanting everyone to feel like they have a space and a voice at the table.

Character creation

Creating your character

First pre-generated iconic characters will be available for anyone who wants to drop in and try the game out. If you are interested in creating your own original character in the first session, we can spend about 30 to 45 minutes crafting what that would look like. All characters will be Novice characters per the Pathfinder for Savage Worlds guidelines. That will be the only book available for character creation. During the course of the adventure, the characters will gain about 3 to 4 advances, bringing them to Seasoned by the end of the mini-campaign. The characters will be created in Roll20, where access to the books is made available through the client.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Players should have an account with Roll20 and a microphone. I have a Plus account and am providing a great gaming experience for everyone involved. Camera is optional, but I will be running one.

What Jacob “Jake” Stick brings to the table

As a mental health professional, first and foremost, I bring safety to the game and allow everyone to feel accepted at the table. I want this to be a safe place to play games and have fun in doing so. As a GM, I enjoy tactical combat and building tension in the map space. The world should be an interesting and rich place, ripe for adventure. I am more in love with the spirit of the rules rather than the letter. I love teaching new players the Savage Worlds system, so if you have never played a role-playing game before or want to just learn how to play the Savage Worlds system, this is a good and safe place to learn.

Safety

How Jacob “Jake” Stick creates a safe table

The tool that I have found most useful is Lines and Veils. We will have a session 0 to go over anything that might be important to keep everyone safe and discuss anything that you might not feel comfortable with. I will have a forum post with my Lines and Veils and provide players with a means to send me their own. After every game, we will do a check-in and make sure that there is nothing new that needs to be flagged.
