About the adventure
The Giambi Archipelago setting for my Savage Worlds campaign is a dynamic and morally complex region. Lawlessness, rapid growth, and cultural conflicts make for a high-stakes adventure backdrop. The Archipelago's equatorial location creates a tropical climate with high humidity, virtually no snow, and lots of rain, including monsoons. In the last 10 to 15 years, blue water navigation has come into its own, and some can even navigate at night by the stars and other celestial bodies. Gunpowder is common, cannons are widespread, and wheel locks/flintlocks have just begun to appear on the open market. Other technological marvels are also sought after by those with the means to obtain them. Five brotherhoods of wizards based in various parts of the world "protect" the civilized world from magic. Generally, they are a long way from the Archipelago. The use of magic (arcane arts) is forbidden in some places and tolerated in others. The Giambi setting uses the Savage Worlds Adventure System and is a proactive Hex/dungeon crawl world. Your starting place will change your perception of the world and what your character is looking for. We will go over this in depth during session zero.

Creating your character
Part of session 0 will include the formation of your party, your goals. and character creation. If you really don't have any idea of what sort of character you would like to play after our discussion I do have about a dozen pre-generated characters and you are welcome to choose one.
The city of of Delagos has been blockaded by pirates and you have been tasked with breaking the blockade and finding out who is behind it and put a stop to their efforts.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
You will need a webcam and a mic to play and please contact me on Discord @ corwinmcgee once you have signed up for my game so I know you have access to Discord to start with. If you are a new player this is a really good Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K69EKISSO20&t=16s I have written an introduction to Savage Worlds for you here: https://www.worldanvil.com/w/the-sea-of-giambi-corwinmcgee/a/not-familiar-with-savage-worlds3F-article If you want to check out a SWADE live play look here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LjehDlTS0Wc Neither of these are necessary as I will go over anything we need to in session zero. Make sure you are comfortable and try not to leave the game too much during the session.
What Gary brings to the table
I've been a GM since the 1970s and I love world building. One of my favorite aspects of TTRPGs is showing new players how cool the hobby can be. I have been told I'm very patient and open minded. I play using a combination of tactical maps and Theater of the mind. To this end I will give you access to my Foundry VTT which will have all the tools you need for character creations and game play. I have also set up a space on my Discord server where we have a place to discuss your groups shenanigan's and other pertinent details as well as hold our game sessions.

How Gary creates a safe table
In session 0 we will be discussing our expectations of the game both in scope and mechanics. What I mean when I say Hex/dungeon crawl and proactive gaming. I will also be discussing inclusivity in my game and giving you, the player, a chance to voice any concerns. We are starting a new adventure together and I want everyone to be comfortable as possible. I will also try to remember that we all need breaks and offer a place for us to have a 10 to 15 minute intermission somewhere in the middle of the session. If I get caught up in the game someone remind me that I'm not a cyborg.
