[PBP][Duet][Beginner] Icespire Beginnings - Duet Play by Post!

Creating your character

We will create your character together in the discord through the first week of play. Since it is a Duet game all focus will be on YOU during session zero (or you and your +1 ). Characters will begin at level 1 and Races/Classes from WOTC and several third party books are available. Homebrew is accepted upon review and approval by DM. Have a character CONCEPT in mind for session zero is recommended but not required. We can talk it through!

Preparing for the session

Never played D&D? A veteran of many games? Never heard of Play By Post? Doesn't Matter! Just make sure to take the link and follow it to the Discord Channel. Here's what YOU need : 1. A computer OR Mobile Phone. They need to be able to access Discord! 2. Good Internet 3. NO headset needed! 4. A Discord account - FREE 5. A Roll20 account - FREE (Optional) Lastly. You should prepare to use your imagination to create AWESOME fun! Creativity is rewarded and can really make for fun memories!

What Dungeon Doug brings to the table

I will provide you with an in-depth roleplaying and D&D experience through the week via the Discord channel & Roll20 Compendium/Game availability. The discord channel is a safe-place and all players are respected and able to be comfortable. You may choose to interact with others in my community on discord, or stick to this game's channel. This well-organized PBP game will be available at all times of the day on Discord. Compendium Access to all rule-books I own over on Roll20 will be available via the Roll20 Game which will be created to coincide with this game. You may access your character sheet remotely using the Roll20 App (if you choose to create your character in Roll20 that is). All Characters will have artwork generated for them by me to your specifications. Key encounters and regions will have maps created by me using Inkarnate. They will be posted into the Discord Channel under a thread appropriately named. The number one rule and goal of this game is to ensure that everyone has FUN! So I will ensure you are able to have fun!

How Dungeon Doug creates a safe table

D&D 5e is a team-based story-telling game with a lot of improvisation involved. Therefore, it is impossible to list ALL themes that may surface. However, within this game you should anticipate the following on a relatively consistent basis: - Fantasy violence with mild to moderate description of gore (PG-13/lite R), Mild Language. Gameplay may utilize some optional rules. Major additions are: Heliana's Guide to Monsters version of Harvesting, Crafting, and Tracking, and Strongholds & Followers rules on Strongholds. There are some minor optional rules that will be discussed in the Session Zero thread on Discord! Music in game is credited to Will Savino, commercial usage approved. Additional music and ambience from "Sounds of Adventure" A playlist of "Game Interludes" will be playing on loop in the Roll20 game. Since this is a Duet, the rules can be customized to an extent. The game is still 5e so will follow that ruleset for the most part. Death can still occur, it shouldn't be ignored. Rule of Cool for fun's sake is always acceptable, but is at DM discretion. Roleplay will be possible with any NPCs or with any Sidekicks. Combat is kept quick and fluid to the best of my ability to keep it interesting at all times. Since PBP with a small player group, it will still follow 5e initiative rules. Ambient music will be provided during many scenarios to bring you into the world a bit more and custom crafted maps will be utilized alongside WOTC official. These will be available periodically on discord/roll20 where available. Puzzles are not common in the WOTC module. Unless requested as an interest these will likely not be added in majority of sessions.
