About me
I have enjoyed running play by post, in person and online rpgs in different systems, including Dungeons & Dragons fifth edition, Pathfinder 1e, Pathfinder 1e Spheres of Power, and Fate Accelerated. A lot of rpgs can expand into other areas, and I am happy to see players becoming friends with each other, doing artwork and expressing themselves through other creative outlets, and in some cases going on to be DMs themselves.

Creating your character
There will be premade characters available, if you would like to pick from one of those. The premade characters will typically default to the old 2014 rules. Those who wish to make their own characters. D&D Beyond usually defaults to the new 2024 rules, so that is fine. If you want to use some aspects of 2014 rules, for example, if you want a subclass from 2014 that is not in 2024 yet, let me know and we can discuss. It will likely be okay. Level 1 characters 27 point buy or Standard array 15, 14, 13, 12, 10, 8.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
Will need a Discord account and a Roll20 account.
What Raymond brings to the table
I usually follow Rules as written mainly, but will occasionally allow Rule of Cool. If you want to do something not normally in the rules, feel free to ask, then I might say yes, or no, or ask for a check and adjudicate based on the results of the check. I typically run my games in a relaxed, chill way. I have had years of experience in running introduction to D&D sessions, mainly for the old 2014 ruleset.
Homebrew rules
Flanking is an optional rule from the 2014 ruleset, I will check with people if they wish to use it. Rolling a critical fail when doing a ranged attack has a chance of hitting something else in the same line.

Safety
How Raymond creates a safe table
The initial session, referred to as session zero, will be used to discuss character concepts, for those who want to make their characters or select from the premade characters. Also to discuss safety tools and the general tone of the campaign. There will be a discussion during that session as to what lines are not to be crossed, ie things that people would rather not see in the campaign at all. Throughout the campaign, anyone may take a break at any time for their own comfort, just let people know if you are doing so.
