About the adventure

The kingdom of Rohan stands divided as a new and inexperienced king takes up the throne. Danger spreads in the land of the Mark, and a band of adventurers might make all the difference in combating the spread of Shadow. This is a loosely structured campaign based on the Oaths of the Riddermark module for One Ring 1e, all focused on your characters proving themselves to the Horselords of Rohan. This is a campaign that will celebrate the whimsical style of Tolkien's storytelling, contrasting with the grim politics at play in Rohan during this time period. Themes of war, intrigue, political contest, and discrimination will be at play in this adventure. Hope and fellowship will be the main drivers of action, as your characters will hopefully earn themselves a place in King Thengel's court with their brave deeds.

About me

"He’s like Mrs. Dalloway, but with dice." - my favorite review ever Well met, fellow human! Let's sit down and come up with a story, something that we'll be remembering fondly for years afterwards. Let's make up stupid voices and get all emotional over a fake donkey, let's turn up the battle music and feel tension as the enemy moves across the field. Let's create some badass moments. As you may have gathered, I'm a big fan of the collaborative nature of tabletop roleplaying. I believe the game runs best when I don't know what's going to happen next, you don't know what's going to happen next, and we're all just frantic with excitement about the next roll of the dice. We play to find out what happens.

Character creation

Creating your character

We'll be creating characters as a group during our Session #0 discussions! In addition to the cultures offered in the core book, we'll also have access to a few homebrew options including a Men of Rohan guide.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Players should ensure they have access to a quality microphone, stable Internet connection, and sign up for an account on the Forge cloud-hosting website for access to our VTT.

What Brayden brings to the table

I'll be bringing an enduring love for Tolkien, hundreds of hours of RPG experience, character voices, curated playlists, a boundless enthusiasm for seeing player characters take dramatic action, and more to the game.

Safety

How Brayden creates a safe table

We'll be going over safety tools in our Session #0 - the two big ones will be the X-card and Lines & Veils documents that I'll issue before the game. We take a five minute break at the half-game threshold and do a little bit of aftercare once the session has wrapped up.
