The lands are shattered wastes, cursed with decaying fortresses and dreadful monstrosities. Still there is hope, in surviving communities who cling to flickering lights, upon the edge of dark oblivion. Your characters stand as heroic survivors. Facing down the terrors beyond the walls and seeking answers to curses that corrupt all around you. Perhaps you may even discover a way to change its fate! ■■■ INTO THE GRIM ■■■ The remaining settlements struggle for survival. Food, tools, weapons - supplies run short. Never mind the ever present threat of the Divine Pyre flickering out, it being the only thing that keeps the horrors at bay. You act as part of a hunting group. Those Enduring who travel between settlements for important supplies, mapping out safe routes through the bleak Umbral veil that has cast itself over the land and face the dread for the survival of your communities.

Creating your character

Currently not using content from Void #1 and #2 During Session 0 or an hour prior to Session. 1. Fill out RPG Consent Form and establish Lines and Veils. 2. Overview of myself as a GM and types of expected gameplay. 3. Note the distinctions of the campaign, such as mood and themes. 4. Chat between players to establish character bonds with one another. Including some soft world-building, all of which shall be visually detailed through easy access game-aids. 5. Follow step-by-step character creation via Demiplane. 6. Proceed directly into gameplay. Backstories may be further elaborated on between sessions.

■■■ The Strength of Hate Adversaries and environments in this campaign can gain an additional type called Umbra-Touched. All Umbra-Touched adversaries critically succeed on attacks against a PC on a die roll of 19–20. As the PCs gain scars, they themselves become slowly corrupted by the Umbra. When a PC deals damage, they deal extra damage equal to their number of scars. When a PC marks their last Hope slot with a scar, they don’t retire, instead succumbing to the Umbra’s influence and charging forever into the dark to join the terrors that stalk lightless spaces. ■■■ Fiery Beacons Every surviving settlement huddles around the relative safety of a Sacred Pyre. These are fueled by Blessed Branches, rare and hallowed artifacts carried as reliquaries by those who wish to expand the reach of the Enduring and found new encampments. If the characters acquire a Blessed Branch, they can reignite an extinguished Sacred Pyre or create a new Sacred Pyre that stands as a bastion of warmth and safety. ■■■ Lurking Darkness The Lurking Darkness represents the ever-present dangers of the Umbra. When the party finishes a short or long rest while not in the vicinity of a Sacred Pyre, there is a high chance you will gain the attention of horrors. ■■■ Additional Downtime Move: Keep Watch When a Lurking Darkness roll is made at the end of downtime, you roll your Hope Die and choose whether to replace their roll with yours. If multiple players choose this move, you can take the highest die roll. ■■■ Soul Blight If a humanoid NPC or any PC dies, the GM can spend a Fear to immediately raise them as horrific undead — who tirelessly seeks to kill everyone they once cared for. Once their zombie form has been destroyed, the victim’s blighted soul withdraws and joins the Umbra. Their features can appear on future Umbra-Touched adversaries.
