About the adventure
This is a Play By Post Game. New comers to Vampire the Masquerade are welcome and help will be given with character generation and anything else the player feels they need help with. Session are considered to be weekly, with players able to post when they can during that week. The more a player can put into the game the more they will get out of it. Players are expected to try and post at least every other day to get a reasonable amount out of the game All characters will be Vampires, even though other supernatural creatures exist in the city. Sheffield 2025. The Week of Nightmares may seem a long time past, but its aftereffects still linger, and some say it never truly ended. Sheffield is a city that seems to attract problems. Built on seven hills and at the confluence of 5 rivers, it is a nexus of supernatural forces. However, while in most city such forces would be trying to tear each other apart, in Sheffield they have learnt to work together knowing that if they don't they will fall to even more powerful forces.

About me
I've been playing RPGs for roughly 35 years and GMing for 34 of those, I quickly realised i was happier behind the screen than in front of it. Originally it was for friends around the table, and then when Covid hit, I joined Roll20 and have been running games on there for the last 5 years. Over the years I have seen many changes in the hobby, from the crunchier systems, to the more mechanics light ones, from relying on books, to the increased use of the internet as a resource, from a time when being a female GM made me stand out in the crowd, to a the current era when the hobby is far more open to all. While some may debate whether crunchy or light system are better, whether books are better to internet, I think we can all agree that the increased inclusivity has added nothing but good to the hobby, and while not yet perfect, I hope the trend continues. I will also mention that while I do have some sight, I am Severely Sight Impaired. I do may best to not let it get in the way of what I want to do.

Creating your character
Characters will be created an maintained in Roll20. All necessary information regarding character creation will be available in the Roll20 game for easy reference. Help with character creation will be available to any who need it. All Characters will be on Humanity with Self Control and Conscience The following Clans and Bloodlines are available Brujah Gangrel Arhimanes, (Dark Ages variant only) Nosferatu (the increased number of cameras in the modern era is making life extremely difficult for this clan) Toreador (Sheffield is not a Toreador city, there is no real Elysium and no Harpies) Tremere Telyavelic Tremere (normally masquerading as a different clan) Ventrue (an inefficient Prince means that the clan does not receive the respect that it does in other cities) Giovanni Lasombra Kiasyd Setites Tlacique Warrior Setites Old Clan Tzemisci (These are the Standard Tzemisci in this world as there is no Vicissitude, I just use the name Old Clan to avoid confusion. No Tzemisci automatically has access to Koldunic Sorcery, but they can take it as an Out of Clan Discipline or through the Additional Discipline Merit) Caitiff (Generation can not be lower than 9th) The following Disciplines can not be taken at Character creation even with the Additional Discipline Merit, or by spending Freebie Points on them Bardo, Chimerstry, Daimoinon, Dementation, Obeah, Ogham, Quietus, Sanguinius, Thanotosis, Valeren Vicissitude Does Not exist in the World at all. There will be limits on which Backgrounds are available, as well as a list of available Merits and Flaws (some of which have been brought over from 2nd Edition) You will receive a small number of additional Freebie Points, but levels 5, 6 and 7 in any Attribute, Ability, or Background will cost extra. Generation can be taken as high as 7 dots (6th Generation) using Freebie Points.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
Players will need a Discord and a Roll20 account (preferably using the same nickname, but I as long as I know who is who, I can normally cope). Access to Tupperbox is useful for displaying you as your character for in game conversations on Discord, but is not essential, a player can always change their Discord nickname on the server to the character name. While some knowledge of the rules is useful, I'm more than happy to help anyone new to the system and the nature of Play by Post means that there is plenty of time to check rules between posts. Players will need to have a character created before they start play, however no payment will be request until the first full session that they can take part in in character. If a player joins the game and then does not get a character created within 2 weeks, they will be asked if they really want to stay in the game. All characters should have a character portrait so that other players can visualise the characters better. I make use of AI Art for almost all of the NPC portraits, so I feel I can not object if players do the same. If people want me to use Midjourney to create a character portrait for them I will attempt to do so. It is better to have a vague idea in mind rather than a specific image as MJ rarely can produce exactly what you are after, and then choose from the options available. Please be aware that I will only use generic terms in the prompts, no term or image that is copyrighted will be used for character or npc creation.
What Oenanthe brings to the table
I bring over 30 years of role playing experience to the game. I've run games for a lot of very different people, and one of my main aims is for players to have fun. As the game is Play by Post, each 'Session' lasts a week and each session will be divided into 3 posting periods, Monday and Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, and Friday, Saturday and Sunday. I will post at least once during any posting period for each player, answering any posts that players make, however if possible I will post a lot more than that, up to twice a day in some instances. Players are expected to post at least once during each posting period to keep the game moving. For any player not familiar with the game a copy of the main rules on PDF will be available for them to view.
Homebrew rules
I have a number of House Rules, some made to adapt the game to the Play by Post format, and some adapted from previous editions of VtM. Vicissitude does not exist in the World. Mages do not exist in the world, there role has been taken by Sorcerers. Merits and Flaws have to be taken from a limited list which will be made available to players at character creation. Generation can be taken down to 6th Generation, but you exchange power now for power later. Abilities can not be taken above 5 without spending Freebie Points regardless of Generation. Certain Backgrounds will not be available. Characters start with 30 Freebie Points not 15, but buying the 5th dot in anything cost double the normal cost, the 6th dot cost triple, and the 7th dot costs quadruple the normal amount of Freebie Points. I will only be using Normal and Aggravated damage not Bashing, Lethal and Aggravated damage.

How Oenanthe creates a safe table
Lines and Veils will always be available to view on the Discord Server where the game will be run. Players can contact me to discuss any additions to the lines and veils that they would like to see added, (I can't guarantee that they will be added, some things are an integral part of the game, but the player will be told). At any point a player can contact me with any concerns they have. As soon as I can I will review the issue, read any posts that the player claims has upset them, and then take action, up to and including deleting offensive posts, and removing players. If I feel that the posts in question do fit with the nature of the game, then the complainant will be informed and it will be their decision as to whether they stay or leave. Please be aware that due to time zones, I may be asleep when posts are made, and i will answer them at the earliest opportunity.
