About the adventure

"Are you tired of Goblins burning your crops and stealing the nails out of your house? Sick of orcs setting the town on fire every other week? Maybe you've got a family to avenge or are just an orphan looking for a grief outlet. Whatever brings you to the life of adventure you'll need a bit of training before getting out there and start crawling dungeons." Here I'll run an intro game for all things D&D! If you want to give it a shot but don't know how to get started I'm here to help.

About me

I like to design the game around what vibes best with the players and will build the plot around their interests. I'm quick with improv moments but still like to have an over all plot to things, making me more skilled at sandboxes than linear paths. You can expect a good mix of everything from absurd humor to visceral horror, occasionally in the same scene. Adventure and new companions await in my games. Come have a good time! Custom booking is available and the price subject to change based on what you're looking for!

Andy's games are amazing! Great balance of combat and roleplay and the worldbuilding is so cool. Very inclusive, LGBT storylines are welcome and handled appropriately. NPCs feel well-fleshed out and like real people. Fights can be challenging but in a way that is fun rather than overwhelming, especially for high-level campaigns. If you like complex/engaging stories, horror elements, and unique combat scenarios that reward real-world problem solving skills, he's your dream DM.

Andy is a fantastic DM. His story telling will keep you engaged. He handles hard topics in a safe manner and he always make everyone feel included. I always look forward to our weekly game!

Andy is incredibly welcoming to new players, consistently managing to balance varying skill levels at his table. Encourages players to play the way they want to, instead of the way that is easiest for him to manage. Very creative both story telling and encounter building.

Incredibly creative and flexible. Always excited to work in and build on your cool ideas. Have been playing consistently in his world for almost a decade and still have corners I'm excited to explore

Character creation
Creating your character

Characters will start at lvl2, using either the 2014 or 2024 rules. We'll hold a session 0 and have a discord server for anything and everything Campaign related. I'll work with each player to build out their character. If you're a new player just let me know and I'll be happy to walk you through the process. Anything official is up for use. I don't mess with homebrew character options much. Character sheets will be hosted on roll20 but if you have a personal method, D&D beyond or a physical sheet, you can use that to track things. I'd just need the roll20 sheet and the personal method to match up.

What to expect
Preparing for the session

A mic is required, but a camera isn't. Personal choice to use a camera or not. You'll need roll20 and discord accounts as well. You don't have to create a character ahead of session 0 but will need one before the first session. If you don't like the vibe of myself or the rest of the group no harm, no loss. For new players: It'd be nice if you knew some rules a bit before getting into things but if not, no big deal. Plenty of time to learn during the game.

What Dungeon Keeper Andy brings to the table

I also enjoy plenty of goof and levity. Things are no fun if its just serious spook all the time, gotta laugh too right? NPCs to love and loathe! I try to make npcs stand out with speech mannerisms, accents and a wide range of alignments. Each NPC with a speaking role (meaning anyone other than the inn keeper you're getting a room from and crossing guards at gates) each have a personality all their own. Music is usually played during sessions, general ambient tracks to fit the setting and/or situation. When running combat I like to make it a challenge but not overwhelming. Some monsters will play to the party's strengths while others will be included to prod at weaknesses. Combat is where I like to stick to rules the hardest but even then might bend on a few things here and there. I dislike killing player characters, I prefer to challenge and impede. Most of the time I like to find other ways around it, a permanent wound or something along those lines. A lost eye or limp. Under no condition will sexual content be described or roleplayed.

Homebrew rules

Nearly all healing spells have double potency. Meaning Cure Wounds now does 2d8 and so on. (case by case basis, this does not apply to 2024 rules) Reroll 1s and 2s on hit die increases. If you roll a 2 twice in a row you've gotta keep it. Lay on Hands is a Bonus Action During a Short Rest, characters with a Prepared Spells list can change out Prepared spells with any other spell they have available of the same level. Spell Scrolls can be used by anyone. They are tools like any other. Stored Saves: At the start of each session all players roll 4d20. The results of those rolls are put onto a list. On occasion during the session the DM might consult that lit of rolls for hidden saves. These will only be for saves/checks that the player character otherwise wouldn't be aware of. An example as to what this is for: An NPC has slipped poison into a player character's food without their knowledge. I'll then roll 1d4 while looking at the list and picks one of the stored saves based on the d4 roll. Checks the PC's con save and if the PC succeeded, they'll never know the attempt was made. If they fail...well they'll know in the usual way. I also sometimes use stored saves if I can't decide on who to target with an attack/effect.
