About the adventure
The Mission: A faint power signature has been discovered on planet R70 Varia, originating from an abandoned research station. The crew is tasked with recovering the station’s CPU core, as it contains high-value data for future expansion and military operations. A five-member Kill Team has been dispatched ahead of your arrival to purge the limited insectoid activity in the area. You are on retrieval duty. 10 kcr or one month’s salary as a bonus on completion. Don’t delay. The Universe: In life only 3 things are true; Death, Taxes, and the existential dread that there is more out there in the black of space than anyone could safely comprehend. In this future, most everyone either works for a corporation or owes a substantial debt to one. You and your crew are contractors with the Custodial Squad, working for one of the biggest companies in the void: Mother Inc. As part of the Custodial team, you get sent to do every dirty little job that some other team was too busy to handle, or to scared to go near. But hey, that's life in the black! The work is hard, the hours are long, the benefits are minimal, and OSHA is an ancient word who's meaning has been lost to time, but corporate assures you it wasn't anything good. There's a hefty payout for you at the end of the day, if you can just make it out with all your fingers attached, or most of them anyway.

About me
Hello! I'm Brent, I'm located in the Pacific NW United States, and I would be honored to be your new GM. I've been playing TTRPGs for 10 years now (mainly D&D) and GMing for a few years. I've ran Dungeons and Dragons 5e, The One Ring 2e, the Alien RPG 1e, Monster of the Week, Mork Borg, Blood on the Lens, and most recently Dragonbane. In the future I'd love to run Coriolis, Root, and Symbaroum/Ruins of Symbaroum. I'm also open to any other kinds of TTRPGs! LGBTQIA+ and BIPOC friendly. I've only got two rules: be kind, and have fun!

Had a great session 0 for a new campaign, where we had a pretty great start! It actually went horribly for my character -- and it was awesome! Really greatly narrated with a lot of work put into the foundry side of things. Recommended in general, but especially for beginners or people looking for a pretty engaging experience, I highly recommend Brent.
After having played a few sessions with Brent, I would say he is exceptionally gifted in his ability to run a TTRPG. You can tell he has put a lot of thought into the products, the stories, the characters, and is able to be quite flexible when the party surprises him. On top of that, you can see in how he runs games that he loves to GM and is quite passionate about it. One of the most polished, comfortable, friendly, and confident GM's I've played with. 10/10.
Character creation
Creating your character
Character creation is quick and easy, so that will happen at the beginning of the session.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
You'll need a Discord account to access the server, headphones/earbuds, and a microphone. Cameras are optional! I'd also highly recommend reading the Players Guide, which you can download here: https://www.drivethrurpg.com/en/product/484222/mothership-player-s-survival-guide . It's Pay What You Want, so if you want to throw a little more towards the game developer, I'm sure they'd appreciate that, or you can get it for free! You'll also need the Mothership Companion App. It's free to use, has built in dice rollers, and will walk you through character creation. Recent updates have included an online play option where I'll be hosting our game map.
What Brent W brings to the table
A private Discord channel is provided for Voice, Chat, and Video (only if you like, you can remain off camera if that's more comfortable for you!) We'll also be using Foundry mainly for artwork, images, and character sheets.

Luxton Technique - Beginning of session will include a brief discussion of triggers and topic/subject matter that are off limits. This is a time for players to bring up any content that they'd like to avoid, no questions asked. If there's a potential trigger that might be too prevalent within the story, this will be the time to discuss! X - I like to handle X cards two different ways; digital and physical. Players are welcome to choose between the two whichever works best for them. Have a note card or piece of paper with an X drawn on it, then whenever you need, just hold that up to your camera. Alternatively, I like to keep an eye on the chat so if a physical card isn't your thing, or you prefer to stay off camera, just type "X" into the chat, and we can pause gameplay to work through the situation. Open Door and Breaks - At any point during the game, please feel free to momentarily step away from the game to de-stress, grab a drink/snack, use the restroom, or just stretch! On that same note, if something has come up in the game that might not be X worthy, but still feels like it warrants discussion, we can pause gameplay at any point to talk. Debriefing and Stars And Wishes - At the end of the session I like to hold a few minutes to discuss what went well and what could be better! I'll also be providing a survey to fill out to leave feedback about the session! The game is only good if we are ALL having fun, so if even one person feels like they want to talk about something, let's take care of it as soon as possible.
