Meet the Game Master
About me
Greetings, adventurers. My name is George, and I have been immersing myself in TTRPGs since around 2001. My journey into the realm of Game Mastering took a serious turn with the release of Pathfinder. My background in theatre, history, and education has been instrumental in shaping my GM style, which emphasizes dramatic conflict, challenging decisions, and character development. I’ve had the pleasure of engaging with a diverse and international player population, both online and in person. This experience has enriched my understanding of the game and its global appeal. The games I run are primarily drawn from official Paizo publications for Pathfinder, supplemented by key resources from publishers like Kobold Press and Sly Flourish. In each campaign, I make it a point to engage with the player characters’ backgrounds. This begins with a session zero where we collaboratively create characters that align with the theme of the campaign. Each campaign I run is a unique world unto itself. I strive to create a distinctive and consistent atmosphere for each one, whether it’s the dark and grim tone of a horror campaign or the epic battles of a high fantasy adventure. Some campaigns may include unique mechanics tailored to their theme. My games, even when played remotely online, aim to emulate the feel of a traditional tabletop experience as much as possible. I prefer to keep technology from overwhelming the gameplay, allowing us to focus on the human elements of the game - the people around our virtual table. I am always available to answer questions through this site. If you have any doubts before signing up for a session, please contact me. I am always eager to hear from established parties who are looking for a new GM. Whether you have already been gaming together, or you are a group of friends, coworkers, or a family group, I would love to embark on an adventure with you. I am also open to requests from existing/ongoing groups for a specific campaign for your party. Whether you have a published module in mind or just an idea that you’d like to develop, I’m here to help you play the game you want to play! Remember, the essence of tabletop gaming is to have fun and create memorable stories together. Let’s roll the dice!

George is an amazing DM. For new players, he's patient and makes getting into the game a fun and easy experience. For more experienced players, he makes sure his games a good mix of social and combat encounters, and he makes them challenging and fair. He plays the monsters in combat and acts them out of combat in such a coherent way that the game world is really brought to life and you feel you are a part of the campaign. George also exhibits complete mastery of the rules of the game. I have high expectations when it comes to that, and he absolutely meets them. I play in 4 ongoing campaigns with George and I've done a few one-shots with him too. Frankly, I really don't want to go to any other DM because I'm just afraid they won't be as good. I would recommend George to anyone looking to try D&D for the first time or for the tenth time. Fantastic DM!
I have played many games with George now. He is charming, likeable and skilled, really knowing the PF2e rules and running the game in accordance with the PF2 ethos. He plays it tough but fair, consistently moves the game along and never lets it get bogged down. He makes the game environment safe and inclusive without needing an overly long session zero. In short, he is great.
George is a rules absolutist that will side against you even when expressly given discretion by the rules. You can cloud jump 50 feet into the air, but not use your fly speed to start flying at the peak of your jump. He is wholeheartedly against players having access to anything uncommon that isn't expressly rewarded within the adventure path. It doesn't factor at all that we are paying him to participate. A year and nearly $2000 later and I still can't have a Riding Drake because it doesn't fit with the theme of the adventure path that a fucking circus that we created and continue to talent scout acts for, could have an uncommon animal.
Character creation
Creating your character
We will build characters together during session zero, though players are welcome to discuss their ideas before the first session through Discord. In addition to the common character options, we will be using options from the "Book of the Dead" and "Dark Archive" supplements to really dig into the atmosphere of the undead nation of Geb. We will be using the free archetype optional rule, to allow for more flexibility in this direction. Players are strongly encouraged to choose backgrounds from the player's guide for this adventure path. The guide is available to all for free directly from Paizo: https://paizo.com/community/blog/v5748dyo6si34 Players who join late will start at the current level of the party, with appropriate equipment for their level.
Brand new party, join at the start!
What to expect
Preparing for the session
A good quality microphone (preferably a headset) is required to use Discord. I also strongly encourage players to use video during games. Games using video conferencing are usually more enjoyable for all parties, as video prevents misunderstandings and miscommunication. In addition you will need (free) accounts for Discord and Forge - the site hosting our Foundry VTT session.
What George brings to the table
All handouts, maps, art, and character-building resources will be provided electronicaly either through Foundry or Discord.
Homebrew rules
We will be using the Free Archetype Optional Rule and the Gradual Ability Boost Optional Rule. Undead and "evil" character options are strongly encouraged and thematic to the world of the campaign.

How George creates a safe table
It is impossible to be comprehensive about the potential content of such a large adventure path - literally impossible when only half of the adventure path has been released at the moment this is being written. On the surface, this is an unusual module, in that it appears it invites players to take on "evil" roles. However, the adventure very much follows a classic heroic fantasy journey - it is the setting that is evil, not necessarily the player characters or their actions. While the player characters in this adventure will have a lot more freedom to act in ways normally not expected of "heroes", it should be clear that consideration and respect for other players is just as important as in any other game. In short, playing in an "evil" campaign is not an excuse to be anti-social. Your priority should be working with your party, just as in any other TTRPG adventure. During our Session Zero we will go over personal limits on content, language, and behavior, and use a protocol called Lines and Veils to set soft and hard limits on our personal preferences. Making other players feel unwelcome or unsafe at the table will not be tolerated.
