Price for Life: a Supernatural Horror and Mystery campaign
Rot and decay has claimed the Kandelló Manor. Among its sagging walls and buckling floors lies the truth of its owner's mysterious disappearance.
About the adventure
The noble family of Kandalló has gone missing and their estate has been replaced by a crater full of strange mushrooms. Rumors of dark magic and nefarious forces has spread through the town of Selunara. It is up to those with courage and wit to uncover the source of this phenomenon and the state of the family at the center of it all. Price for Life is an adventure that explores life, death, and transformation. If you love mysteries with supernatural dread, body horror, and mushrooms (lots of mushrooms) then grab your adventuring pack and join in! We will be using Discord for voice chat and Roll20 for combat and dice rolls. I will be providing pregen characters on DnDBeyond with unique motivations, however if you want to edit or create your own we can talk about it. Video is optional, but audio is a must. This adventure presents the opportunity to acquire new powers at the cost of warping your body temporarily or even permanently. If body horror is not your thing, that's ok, this is an option not a requirement to enjoy the adventure.

Meet the Game Master
About me
Greetings, fellow travelers. If you hunger for danger, thirst for drama, or simply seek a thrilling tale, I can be your guide to adventure. My name is Andrew and I've been DMing for nearly two decades now, cutting my teeth on a Pathfinder game that spanned two year and changed the course of my life forever. By day I am a cartoonist and game dev, publishing comics and ttrpg adventures that take place in the world of Aclion. I love storytelling and use TTRPGs to share that love with others. I am versed with a number of systems, though I run primarily D&D 5e and Savage Worlds games. I am willing to run any game system for someone if given prep time for the system. I'm LQBTQ+ friendly and make it a point to keep my games a safe place for people of all backgrounds and orientations to feel welcome! I hope you consider me to be your guide on your next epic adventure!

A seasoned professional with deep love for the game. Have been playing with him as a GM for 4 campaigns in a span of over 5 years. He is flexible goes with the flow of the players decisions and focus on making the sessions fun. Feel free to let him know your preference. He can make it happen!
Andrew is one of the best GMs I've ever had! He's a great storyteller, quick thinking, fun, and overall an absolute pleasure to game with. Andrew has run several different games I've been in and always knows the rules and systems * and when to bend them to make the games fun every player. Andrew is also incredibly inclusive and great at working within each players personal boundaries.
Andrew has DMed several games for me across various systems and settings. He’s endlessly creative and as patient as I could ask for; notably, he’s always kind about helping players out with mechanics. If you want worldbuilding, whimsy, or absolutely nauseating body horror, he can make it happen!
Character creation
Creating your character
We will be using the 2014 edition rules of D&D. If you wish to make your own character, talk to me ahead of time about your idea. I will have a campaign on DnDBeyond where pregens will be available and where you can add your own character to when you are done building them. We will begin at 3rd level, using the standard array for Ability Scores. All core species and classes are available, anything else should be ran by me beforehand. All characters will begin with a reason to investigate the disappearance of the Kandalló Family. You can choose one of the following or come up with your own: - You were friend's with either Marco (19m) or Aria (18f) and are on your way ti visit them. - You have worked for the family in the past. You have just completed a job for them and are returning to retrieve your payment. - Someone you respect highly called in a favor, asking you to find out why the Kandalló family have not returned their letters. The characters will begin already knowing each other. Fill in each sentence with the name of a different party member. ______ saved my life; I need to return the favor. ______ annoys me, but I can't help admiring their skills. ______ and I go way back. Whether we like it or not, we are stuck with each other
What to expect
Preparing for the session
Make sure you have a Discord, DnDBeyond, and Roll20 account before joining the game. We will be using Discord for voice chat and record keeping, Roll20 for combat and rolls, and DnDBeyond for character sheets. The Beyond 20 browser extension connects your DnDBeyond character sheets to Roll20, allowing you to make rolls on one that shows up on the other.
What Andrew Misisco brings to the table
I love a good mix of roleplaying and combat. The party will be starting in the town of Selunara, allowing them to explore and chat with NPCs. I let the players determine the direction the story takes, gently guiding them with enticing opportunities. I am always conscientious of our time and keep that in mind when a scene begins to run long. I try to stick to the rules as written unless we have agreed to any home-brew mechanics or if it impedes on something really fun or interesting happening (rule of cool). Anytime I make adjustments to the rules I try to inform my players and get their OK on it.
Homebrew rules
I like to use Pointy Hat's rules for Battlefield Actions, where the boss will telegraph their next move at the end of their turn, allowing the players to act accordingly. In my opinion, this makes for a more dynamic and interesting combat experience, requiring characters to move around to survive or prevent dangers from arising. Drinking a potion is a Bonus Action. Administering a potion to an unconscious character is a Standard Action. Instead of rolling double damage, Critical Hits add the max result of all dice to the standard damage rolled (example: Your attack with a greatsword crits, dealing 2d6+STR+12, the 12 is the max result from 2d6.)

How Andrew Misisco creates a safe table
I use a RPG consent checklist to help me know what every player's lines and veils are as well as the Roses and Thorns method after each session to determine what they liked and disliked. I encourage the use of X-cards in my games. Players can either DM me directly, post an X in the Discord chat, or ping the X on the map during combat and I will either redirect or ask for clarifications on the nature of the X.
