About the adventure

This campaign is one of three that take place simultaneously and will interact with each other occasionally if not frequently! "Down on Daedalon" follows Imperial or Rogue Trader characters who may be the last survivors of the crashed Frigate the Righteous Acrimony, a ship that has been stuck in stasis for three years after having collided with a Drukhari Torturer amid the torrent caused by the Cicatrix Maledictum. An Ork Battlekroozer emerging from the Warp pulled the Acrimony and the Torturer stuck in its hull from their stasis and hurled the vessel into the lowest levels of Deadalon, a Grave moon that may have more to it than just tombs... Can the ragtag team make it to the surface alive? Or even just a working vox? And what was that noise?! While a firm, multiple decades long follower of THE Grim Dark, rest assured that dark, gothic, grit will be the backbone of this, and the other two sister campaigns, there will also be room for a decent amount of humor, drama, intrigue, action, moral dilemmas...and mystery!! As in ALL of my campaigns, I have staple rules: Don't be afraid to run! Be as cheesy as you like but expect the same from opponents. You get as much out as you put in; so more to your character means more of their ties to the campaign.

About me

One score and ten years ago, I set upon the life changing adventure that is TTRPGs! Even as a new player, the urge to tell a good story often overpowered my better judgement and I found myself begging the DM for more drama! It wouldn’t be too long before I tried my hand at GMing myself and was absolutely horrible… It would take a few campaigns before I understood the right ingredients for a good stew of adventure, but then it became difficult to find an occasion in which I could again play myself; everyone wanted me to GM! Now I’ve come to respect roleplaying games as an awareness and social preparedness tool and actually setup an intro into TTRPGs curriculum. Much like the actor Chris Pine recently expressed, I feel that TTRPGs would be a beneficial addition to schooling. However, I am here and available for a good story! I always have a few rules: You’ll get as much out of it as you put in! Feel free to be as cheesy as you like but expect the same in turn. Do not feel ashamed to run!

Daxula creates a welcoming atmosphere at the virtual table. He integrated my character's backstory pretty soon in the campaign. His stories are full of surprises and a good balance of opportunity for role play and action packed encounters.

The Story was amazing!! The combat and role playing choices were decently challenging. The emotional attachments felt to the NPCs is very real and the loss felt after any of their death is definitely felt.

This guy's pacing is impeccable; the stories he tells engage the player at just the right speed to where they'll always have something happening, but simultaneously have just enough time to keep ongoing interaction with other party members.

I have been a part of many games with Dax. His story telling is immersive and leave you wanting to know where the story is going and how it will end.

Dax is capable of taking a new player to a veteran player and bridge the gap.

He really told a story and use the background of the characters to progress the story

Character creation
Creating your character

Each character will start at Tier 3, regardless of Archetype. So feel free to take lower Tiers and rank 'em up! No Astartes of any kind, no third party rules, and only Archetypes from the Core or Forsaken Systems books please; that is, unless you clear it with me and the rest of the group. Rogue Traders are a key aspect as well as Imperials used to combat, so this could indeed lead to xenos and / or psychers having to work with those who would rather them dead. Therefore, while inter-character conflict can add to the story, keep the good of the group in mind at all times! We're all in this together! Characters can either be created alone and checked over by me or we can do so together, at least in part, during Session 0. This WOULD give us time to communicate and work together for more cohesive and / or contrasting characters. Regardless, I will supply any necessary digital books.

The current party

Rogue Trader or Imperial types only. i.e. Imperial, Rogue Trader, or unaligned Xenos. No Astartes.

What to expect
Preparing for the session

Discord will be used for communication at the very least. A server will be provided. Digital Books are on Dropbox. The campaign will be played on Foundry VTT and a link provided for a browser. I have already purchased Foundry and all the systems and modules to be used. Due to those facets, an internet connection is kind of a must. If you don't have internet but can use a tablet for Discord? Well, we can run it past the group to see if someone can handle your character on Foundry. Other than that? I am fairly easy. Just be accepting and communicative!

What Daxula brings to the table

As stated, I will provide digital content and virtual access. But YOU want to know what I provide by way of enjoyment! Well, my experience with THE best sci-fi mythos there is spans three decades... which can be a double edged sword. There have been many retcons. But I do try to stay on top of them. In addition, the vast portion of this campaign will be homebrew. Therefore we can be safe from too much adherence to canon. As stated prior, the feel for my campaigns are always a mix of all things one might desire from a good story with an emphasis on the dynamic of the respective backdrop. In the 42nd Milennia this means that you might picture a Guillermo Del Toro orJames Gunn feel! One moment the crew may be having a laugh with one of their own and in the next, that teammate might be impaled by a slimy tentacle!

Safety
How Daxula creates a safe table

Communication. That is always going to be the focus and highest form of safety. None of us will be able to help if we do not know. Just after communication has to come acceptance. None of us should be here to Troll. The only thing that will not be accepted is nonacceptance. The great thing about roleplaying is a team of very different characters with different interests and different beliefs working for the same goal. So if someone has a concern, it will be heard, respected, discussed, and a resolution decided on. My sessions always end with us discussing integral moments of the session! Always. This is the point where players can express joys and concerns and where I can gather intel on what story aspects most move them. Now... as my campaigns also typically include a decent amount of mysteries and shock, and as death of a character is always a threat... especially in THIS setting... I don't want players to feel TOO safe and comfortable. \;) All that said and in consideration of all of the Content Warnings below... This can still be a campaign for All Ages if desired. I am a parent after all. While this list is of those things that the characters are likely to run into in this campaign, these items are not agreed upon by me in any way shape or form. They are simply obstacles that the characters will encounter in their existence. We can discuss it all in Session 0and work together to make sure that the content is appropriate for everyone involved.
