About the adventure
Highprince Sebarial has issued out that he is sponsoring a fair in Uruthiru and has hired some helping hands to aid him in ensuring the Middlefest Fair is successful and ran smoothly. Little does he know a certain Radiant is on the move to cause some mischief and have a little fun! Join in the fun if you are: - Looking to learn how to play Cosmere! - Need help deciding what character to play in Cosmere! - Wanting to enjoy a Learn to Play (or LtP for short) game without needing anything more than a smartphone and (preferably) a headset or earbud! - Looking for a DM with consistent hours of gameplay in the system you are interested in trying! In these two hours, you will be taking the "First Step" - a short, choose-your-own-adventure segment - where your actions help dictate what kind of character you might be looking to play for your next Cosmere campaign - and following up with that created character in the mini-adventure "Middlefest in Uruthiru" to learn the basics of the Cosmere RPG. Session Breakdown is: - Safety (5-10 minutes) - First Step (30-40 minutes) - Break (5-10 minutes) - Middlefest in Uruthiru (50-80 minutes) Like all sessions, these times are only assumed values and fully depend on the speed and actions of the players in the game. There may be some sessions that end before the 2-hour mark and some that end after the 2-hour mark. As a DM with over 35 sessions under her belt running games in the Cosmere RPG, and having taught this system to folks who both have ttrpg experience and have no ttrpg experience alike, I have found the immersion of creation and adventure to be a perfect way to really get into the learning of the game. If you are unsure about joining a Cosmere RPG game due to not knowing how to play the game or what exactly you want to play, then look no further than this Learn to Play adventure!

About me
Some dragons hoard gold. Others hoard gemstones. While I never will turn down such hoards, I hoard stories - a hoard that grows with each passing day. As a long-term roleplay writer, I enjoy creating new stories and curating prewritten ones to fit the tone or purpose of my stories, parties, and games. I have been type-roleplaying for many years, being part of the forum roleplay groups back in the age of Gaia Online and other similar groups. Since then, I have been writing posts that expressed the inner workings, the active actions, and the pointed conversations of hundreds of complex characters. This is only amplified when compiling them together to form a story that is reactive and interactable from a group seeking the next dawn. I have a corgi familiar named Fenrir who often enjoys giving me the Help action and is a mini-celebrity amongst my players, often having a related npc or party pet that represents Fenrir and his antics. I value narrative context and will do my best to fit the mechanics to the narrative you want. This has led me to curating and crafting custom content - often referred to as homebrew - for several games, players, and even other game masters. I do my best to not include AI generated imagery in my live games, choosing to not use such images for advertisement and actively replacing any edge/unknown cases with commissioned pieces, and often support growing artists in my communities. I also do not use AI in any of my play-by-post messages. This provides a raw experience to my creative inspirations.

Creating your character
We will be using the First Step - choose your own adventure segment - to create characters dynamically at the start of the session. Though players are welcome to consider or even create their own characters before the start of session! Players can expect the First Step to take place over 30 minutes.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
You will need access to the following: - discord (free) in order to communicate with me - demiplane (free) account to create your character It is highly recommended to use a headset or earbud with some kind of microphone in order to communicate easily, but players who prefer to type their responses are welcome to do so in the provided discord thread for the adventure!
What Onyx (Megan) brings to the table
From me, you will gain the following: - Knowledge from a GM who has been actively hosting Cosmere games since the Cosmere Kickstarter - An immersive narrative learning experience that can be had from your smart phone - Temporary access to any needed Cosmere documentation.
Homebrew rules
This will be mostly rules as written in order to express a learning experience, however the system embodies narrative based mechanics so there may be some flexibility in rules or actions.

Notice: This is an "All Ages" game. This does not mean that you will have a child in the game, but rather it is set up to be underage friendly. If you would have a younger player interested in playing or you would prefer to not play in an adventure with an underaged player, please reach out to me privately and I will host a separate one-shot with that specification in the Party Notes of the adventure. We will cover safety at the start of session, but this learn to play has very little in terms of Content Warnings. The only thing I may not be able to control is the use of harsh language from other players - however in the spirit of Stormlight Archives, I do recommend players to use things like "Stormfather", "Storms", or "Crem" instead of normal world explicit phrases if they feel the need to use such terminology. As an avid reader in Cosmere, though, I will warn parents of younger players should note that themes often taken in the Stormlight Archives can have some serious tones or problematic subjects for those under the age of 18 if looking for a follow-up game to join in. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to me through StartPlaying.Games or on my discord (provided upon signing up).
