About the adventure
The MageHunters are one of the most well-known and reputable mercenary guilds on the continent. Granted, it’s been ages since they formed as a group hunting down the rogue mages that were plaguing the land, but the name stuck. The tales of the MageHunters, their deeds, and their bravery are sung in the taverns and told as tales to children, and at long last, you have joined their number! As a new member of the guild, you’ll be sent out, alone or with a group (of NPCs) to handle contracts, and as you gain more experience, you’ll face harder and harder contracts. But why a solo PbP? The biggest challenge in PbP is not the monsters you face, it’s the time you spend waiting for the other players. This game will be run solo so you can set the pace. However, I’m listing several sessions of this game and will have a group chat channel for all players so that those who also like the social aspect will have that outlet and the chance to request adventuring together for a quest or long-term adventure if you wish.

About me
We find ourselves in a blue-hued room belonging to an awkward, nerdy teenage boy on a day when his life is about to be changed forever. For this happens to be the day his father will give him a very special gift. The gift itself is simply a red, rectangular box: the Dungeons and Dragons First Edition Beginner Box. Yes, this was a world of opportunity in which the boy could escape reality by being a character class like fighter, wizard, or…Elf? Yep, I’ve been a TTRP nerd for many decades now and it all started back when Elf and Dwarf were still considered classes, not races or ancestries and THACO was making me practice math way more enthusiastically than my teachers ever could. As I’ve continued forward in my gaming journey, I’ve enjoyed countless hours on both sides of the GM/DM screen, have become a Venture Agent with Pathfinder Society, and I coordinate the DND/Pathfinder Club at the school where I teach. So, what’s kept me invested in the game all this time? In simple terms, the creative freedom. I love playing creative and unique characters (for example, my gunslinger/witch with multiple personality disorder and the dice would determine which personality dominated each round). And as a GM/DM, I love creating an environment where my players can bring their interestingly unique characters and come up with creative and clever routes to take for problem solving…or problem creating as it sometimes becomes. I love creating a table where players can enjoy the sandbox world a TTRPG creates, helping players learn and expand their understanding of these amazing games, and I absolutely love when my players catch me off guard and the story goes places I’d never even thought it could go. I love creating a gaming world where NPC’s are meaningful figures, the places the characters venture are fleshed out locations a player can truly picture, and the world is something that the heroes find worth saving. A seat at my table will be a place where your ideas will be heard, your unique character and individual views will be respected, and we can all learn and grow together in this amazing game.

Creating your character
We will use the 27 point buy for character creation and we begin at level 1. As you level up, I'm perfectly fine with multiclassing, so you can plan future levels with that in mind if you wish. Character creation begins as soon as you join the Discord and you'll have me as a resource for questions concerns. You are also welcome to use whichever digital character sheet you choose or even just a Google Doc if that's your preference.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
I will check the Discord multiple times per day and the rate of posting will be up to you.
What Sean (Suburban Dad Gaming) brings to the table
We will primarily use Discord for posting our adventures. However, I will also provide maps and NPC images on a Google Slideshow so that visual aspect is also addressed. I check the Discord multiple times per day, so the game will move at the rate you choose.

How Sean (Suburban Dad Gaming) creates a safe table
Session 0 will be an important time for character building as well as establishing any triggers so that I can ensure that the game is set up in a way that works best for you. As a play-by-post, we'll have the opportunity for daily interaction, so if anything ever stretches beyond your comfort zone, I'm always happy to reroute an adventure as the main goal is for everyone to enjoy the adventure rather than me telling the story in a scripted way.
