About me

Howdy y'all, and welcome, you magnificent nerds! I’m DMKilfoot (or DMK, or "Andrew" if you’re my mom, a bill collector, or someone who’s very lost). I’ve been herding cats—ahem, running TTRPGs—for over two decades, which means I’m old enough to remember when "THAC0" wasn’t just a weird noise you make after bad sushi. But hey, age brings wisdom! Or at least really strong opinions about dice rituals. After years of subjecting my friends and family to my nonsense, I’ve decided to branch out and inflict my DMing upon strangers—because let’s be real: strangers are just future accomplices you haven’t roped into a devil’s bargain yet. (From a safe, socially distanced, fully consensual table, of course.) WHAT TO EXPECT AT MY TABLE: - A fiercely LGBTQIA+, neurodivergent, and beginner-friendly circus. We’re here to punch monsters, talk in questionable accents, and occasionally remember how skill checks work. Respect is non-negotiable. So is laughing when the rogue inevitably sets something on fire. - A DM who’s equal parts "rules lawyer for the people" and "rule of cool advocate. "RAW” is great, but if you want to backflip off a dragon while reciting a sonnet, I’ll at least consider it. (Terms and conditions apply. Void where prohibited. May require a deal with a sketchy fey entity.) - D&D 2024 rules… with a side of homebrew spice. Official content only? Boring. If the options don’t thrill you, I’ll happily Frankenstein something together—just don’t blame me when your sentient spoon familiar develops a god complex. - Safety tools, Session 0s, checklists, and aftercare like a responsible adult. Think of it like emotional seatbelts—we might not crash, but boy howdy, does it feel good knowing they’re there. I make custom maps, plot hooks, and questionable life choices—all professionally presented with a dash of misplaced enthusiasm. So if you’re ready to embrace chaos, tell cool stories, and maybe—remember the plot, let’s roll some dice. Or at least accidentally knock them off the table in dramatic fashion. Game on, you glorious weirdos.

Homebrew rules

House Rules Attribute options: Standard 15 14 13 11 10 8 Specialized 17 15 13 10 8 6 Inspiration Points. I award a “Heroic Inspiration” at the start of each game if players contribute to the recap of the previous session. I also award a d6 inspiration dice if you answer the session question through your character's perspective. In voice is even better but will not result in additional inspiration. Session Questions I start each session with a question for your character. Think of it as an ice Breaker. It helps us get into the mindset of the characters. Tie Goes to Player If your attack hits an ac directly it hits. If you meet the dc on a save you save. But if an npc attacks the party and meets the ac it fails. Don't worry I'll get ya eventually. Brutal Critical. Scoring a critical hit will allow you to deal the total dice damage of an attack plus a damage roll. Example: Bob the fighter crits with his short sword. He rolls his d6, adds his modifier and then an additional 6 on top of that. Additional Criticals When rolling an attack if your attack beats the npcs act by 10 or more you score an additional critical. If you happen to roll a natural 20 and are 10 over the npcs act you score a double critical. Meaning the dice in the attack are added up twice at their maximum. Example: Bob the fighter scores a critical and an additional critical with his short sword. He rolls his 1d6, adds his modifier and then adds an additional 12 damage for the attack from the 2d6 additional dice. This effect can stack additional times. Opportunity Attacks: Standing up from prone triggers an attack of opportunity. Death Saves: Failed death saving throws are maintained until a long rest, rather than resetting when the character is healed. If a character fails a third save after being brought back up they will die. Death saves are a d20 Roll. 10 or higher is a success. Bless, inspiration, or paladin aura bonus to saves effects death saves. Death saves are rolled in secret. You can message me what you rolled. Multiple Spells a Turn. Spells of level 2 or lower don’t count against the ‘one spell slot spell per turn’ rule. Drinking Potions While in combat, you may drink a potion using a bonus action. If you are drinking a potion of healing, and if you want to recover the full amount of hp you may use your action. Feeding a Potion of Healing While in combat, if you want to heal an ally with a potion of healing you may use a bonus action, or action to do so. Using your action recovers the full amount of hp for the potion. Outside combat drinking potions will not give you the full amount of restoration. Help with Skill Checks Multiple pcs can attempt a skill check if they are proficient. only one pc can help another.

Safety

How DMKilfoot creates a safe table

During our Session 0, we will go over what type of game the party want to play, as well as the subject matters involved in that setting. We will go over a safety checklist, and go over what we want to expect and what we don't want in the game. If someone has an issue with something listed above, we can discuss it and if its something that would take away fun for them we can remove it. This is a game, and I want the game to be fun. If something is going to cause you discomfort and you'd like to avoid it we will scrap it. I want to be a safe and fun place for every one, if you have a problem I'd like to know about it so I can hopefully change the issue. We will have time after each session to go over any and all details and have time for questions comments and concerns. We will be touching sensitive subjects with this campaign, and an open and honest party is the best way to address these things. If you want to speak with me privately, we can set up a time, or you can shoot me a message on discord.
