About the adventure
This is a campaign using the official D&D modules Waterdeep: Dragon Heist and Waterdeep: Dungeon of the Mad Mage set in the Forgotten Realms setting. In Waterdeep: Dragon Heist, players will advance levels 1-5 from a humble new adventuring party to having their own home base in the metropolis of Waterdeep. Waterdeep is the largest city of adventurers and diversity on the Sword Coast of Faerun, filled with many already famous adventuring parties, factions, and criminal networks. Your party begins as a fledgling group of adventurers, one of countless others in this city of opportunity, and you may feel like a small fish in a big pond. But as you uncover the mystery of a hidden dragon hoard while working with and against the various factions and gangs in the city, your party might just end up being Waterdeep's next rising stars! Then, once you've established yourselves in the city, we shall begin Waterdeep: Dungeon of the Mad Mage, where your party will begin to delve into Undermountain - a many-layered mega-dungeon that expands beneath the city of Waterdeep. Every level is its own unique biome filled with myriads of denizens, friends and foes alike. No adventuring party has yet to claim the honor of unraveling the mystery of Undermountain and the Mad Mage, but maybe you and your friends will be the ones to claim that legend. First of all, thank you for taking the time to read this whole-ass wall of text, I know it's a lot, I just want you to know what you're getting into. This campaign has a very specific setting and takes place in a very specific place in that setting. This campaign does not end with saving the world; it ends with your party getting rich and famous. This campaign has equal amounts of crunchy, difficult combat, dungeon exploration, and roleplay opportunities. What are you paying me for? A few things, but one very important thing. Yeah, you're obviously paying me for my time and expertise, but I think what you're really going to be paying for is my matchmaking. You see, I wholeheartedly believe that 99% of the fun of D&D is the people you play with. We are going to have the most fun together if I make sure that the people we play together with pass the vibe check, have the same interests in the type of game they want to play, and are okay with learning and respecting others' boundaries. Only once you make sure that the group of people you're roleplaying with are making it a safe space, can you truly begin to enjoy yourself. With that said, I intend to vet each prospective player so I can put together a group of players who I think will have a good time playing games together, and hopefully we can be friends! THAT's what's really worth the money.
Game style
Combat Heavy
“Combat Heavy” games emphasize the combat mechanics within their systems over roleplay or puzzle solving. There are frequent and longer battles with enemies and a greater emphasis on tactical game play.
Dungeon Crawl
A “Dungeon Crawl” is a scenario where players navigate a dungeon or labyrinth-like environment for the entirety of the adventure. It emphasizes battling monsters, collecting loot, and avoiding traps to survive to the end!
Roleplay Heavy
“Roleplay Heavy” games place the focus on the story, the characters, and the world they live within, and tend to lean hard into the various roleplaying elements of the game. These games will frequently find the party talking with NPCs, exploring the personal elements of their backstories, or even having emotional moments around the camp fire.
Rule of Cool (RoC)
“Rule of Cool” emphasizes creative story beats over sticking to a system’s rules as written. Players have the ability to push the limits of the rules or even break core rule mechanics at times if the Game Master thinks it is interesting, fun, or cool enough.
Rules as Written (RaW)
Games that are ran “Rules as Written” emphasize realism and stick to the letter of the rules, allowing players to explore creative solutions while still operating under a consistent rule set. Players have the ability to utilize the rules in creative ways to create awesome characters and moments in the game.

How to prepare
Make sure you have a Discord account and a headset, or headphones and mic. Make sure you have an account on Roll20.net. Make sure you have a stable internet connection. Read the Player's Handbook 2024. Ask me for book resources and character creation help if necessary. Get ready to hang out and have fun!
What I provide
As a DM, my job is to make sure we have fun. That means from the beginning, making sure that we get together a group of people who will most likely have fun together, making sure boundaries are set and respected so we can create a safe space, and making sure we play in a way that feels fun, fair, and safe. I prefer to stick to Rules as Written, but I have an experienced enough understanding of the game to know when to Rule of Cool. I am a recovering theatre kid, so I love to roleplay and try my best to do voices. Don't feel bad if you can't do a voice, focus on being able to describe your character's actions and states. But I also love minmaxing and optimization as a player personally, so feel free to do so as well, I am able to keep things balanced and combat still engaging.
Gameplay details
Before Session 0, I will reach out to anyone interested with a survey to get an idea of where everyone's values, experiences, playstyles, and boundaries are. Then, I will try my best to match the people best suited to play together so we can have most fun possible. Unfortunately, that might mean that you may not be a good fit for the table, but that is never a reflection of your value; it just means that there's a better group suited for you elsewhere. I like to run a free Session 0 where we get to introduce ourselves and talk about the game we're gonna be playing and our boundaries. We can enforce boundaries in game using colors or XNO's whichever is preferred.

How will character creation work
We will be using the 5.5e or 2024 5e ruleset and books, and playing on the Roll20 platform using Discord for communication. Other supplimentary books are allowed, and unearthed arcana is acceptable with permission. Feats from supplimentary books can be updated to have Ability Score Improvements in line with the new 2024 design philosophy. Minimal homebrew, prefer RAW 99%. Starting at Level 1. Point Buy or Standard Array for stats. No custom backgrounds. You can choose starting equipment or roll starting gold. I highly recommend and encourage reflavoring spells, weapons, and mechanics to make your character feel unique, just discuss those ideas with me first. Feel free to start character building at any time, but don't finalize anything until after the free session 0, when we discuss the setting. I am happy to help with character creation and rules help.
