About the adventure
Valeward University: A World of Knowledge, Secrets, and Power Welcome to Valeward University, a sprawling institution built atop the remnants of ancient mysteries and primeval magics. Here, arcane knowledge is the currency of power, and secrets lurk behind every locked door, shadowed corridor, and forbidden tome. But this university doesn’t cater solely to spellcasters and alchemists; it welcomes students of all disciplines, both magical and mundane. Engineers, scholars, duelists, historians, and explorers find their place alongside wizards and warlocks, as Valeward’s halls teem with those eager to carve out their destiny. The Setting & Themes Valeward University blends gritty realism with magical mystery. Picture a world where steampunk technology hums beside crumbling towers, where students attend lectures by day and delve into shadowy, hidden libraries by night. There’s a labyrinthine network of secret societies, forgotten catacombs, and off-limits chambers that whisper of arcane power waiting to be seized. Whether you master martial prowess, scholarly debate, or ancient magics, you’ll find a place and challenges here. Themes include ambition, power, forbidden knowledge, loyalty, and the price of secrets. Who This Game is For This campaign is perfect for players of all experience levels, including beginners looking for a friendly introduction to TTRPGs and those in LGBTQ+ community seeking a welcoming, inclusive table. Whether you’re a spell-slinger, a blade-dancer, or a curious scholar, Valeward University opens its gates to you. If you love exploring intricate settings, piecing together mysteries, and navigating social intrigue as much as dungeon crawling and combat, you’ll feel right at home. Valeward encourages creativity, character-driven choices, and a healthy dose of moral ambiguity. My GM Style & What to Expect As your GM, I blend narrative-rich storytelling with dynamic character interaction. Expect a mix of roleplay-heavy sessions, tactical challenges, and social encounters with plenty of room for your characters to shine. I embrace the "rule of cool," balancing game mechanics with narrative flow to keep things engaging and fun. Puzzles, rivalries, and unexpected alliances will test your wits and morals. I create a safe, collaborative space where everyone’s voice matters, whether you’re a seasoned player or new to TTRPGs. So, pack your notebooks, ready your sword, tune your gadgets, or open your spellbook—Valeward University is waiting. Just remember: the truth is rarely what it seems, and every choice echoes into the shadows. Will you rise to the top, unearth ancient secrets, or be lost to the darkness beneath the stone?
Game style
Roleplay Heavy
“Roleplay Heavy” games place the focus on the story, the characters, and the world they live within, and tend to lean hard into the various roleplaying elements of the game. These games will frequently find the party talking with NPCs, exploring the personal elements of their backstories, or even having emotional moments around the camp fire.
Rule of Cool (RoC)
“Rule of Cool” emphasizes creative story beats over sticking to a system’s rules as written. Players have the ability to push the limits of the rules or even break core rule mechanics at times if the Game Master thinks it is interesting, fun, or cool enough.
Sandbox / Open World
In "Sandbox" or "Open World" games, players are given a tremendous amount of freedom to pursue their stories without the restrictions of a more linear game style. Players are encouraged to explore and engage with the world, and find their own story as they do so. These games offer the players the opportunity to help drive the narrative, and allow for the story to evolve organically through the choices they make.
Theater of the Mind
“Theater of the Mind” uses little to no visuals for scene settings and combat. Instead, the narrative imagery comes from the Game Master’s descriptions and character action and movement comes from Players’ descriptions.

How to prepare
To prepare, you'll need a working mic, a discord profile, and a desire for fun and adventure. I use Roll20 for maps and character movement. You can use physical dice, if you'd like, or you can use Roll20 digital dice. Character sheets will be up to you as well, you can create a character on Roll20 or use Demiplane.
What I provide
As a GM, I bring a collaborative and immersive experience to the table. I love using character voices and descriptions to bring the world to life, keeping the action flowing while making every player feel like a hero. I run my games on Roll20, embracing its visual tools and maps for a smooth, engaging experience. My style leans into the rule of cool, if it’s awesome and fits the story, we’ll make it work, but I’ll also reference RAW when needed to keep the game fair and consistent. Whether you’re a veteran player or just starting out, you can expect a welcoming table, lots of laughs, and epic moments you won’t forget.
Gameplay details
Your safety, comfort, and enjoyment are my top priorities at my table. I strive to create a welcoming, inclusive, and respectful environment where players of all backgrounds, experiences, and identities can thrive. Here’s how I make that happen: Lines & Veils: I’ll provide a Lines and Veils document before Session 0 via a shared link, allowing you to privately indicate any themes or topics you’d prefer to avoid. These boundaries will be respected without question, and the document can be updated at any time. Session 0: We’ll have a Session 0 to discuss expectations, preferred playstyles, character creation, house rules, and safety tools. I’ll outline the tone of the game, ensure everyone’s comfort levels, and answer any questions. This is also a great opportunity to build connections between characters and set the stage for our story. X, N, & O Cards: Safety tools like the X, N, & O system will be available throughout every session. These will be used digitally in our chat, and players can either type a quick message or message me privately if they prefer. Here’s what each card means: X Card: The scene has crossed a line and needs to stop; the scene will be changed immediately. N Card: A warning of nearing content that could be close to a line or veil. Currently, you are safe, but proceed with caution or shift to the next scene. O Card: A check-in card. Open Communication & Aftercare: After each session, I’ll check in with everyone to see how they’re feeling about the session. Players are encouraged to share any concerns, highlights, or suggestions. If needed, we’ll take extra time for decompression and processing, either as a group or one-on-one. Inclusivity & Respect: This game is LGBTQ+ friendly, beginner-friendly, and a safe space for players of all identities and backgrounds. I will not tolerate harassment, discrimination, or disrespectful behavior of any kind. My goal is to ensure everyone feels valued, heard, and excited to return to Valeward University each session. Your fun and well-being are what make the magic happen!

How will character creation work
Character creation will be finalized in Session 0. These characters will be made in the Daggerheart system, so brushing up on some YouTube videos is highly recommended, I like Ginny Di's video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RdMo0f3kxKk Demiplane will have the character creation tools necessary and will be able to be used with Roll20.
