About the adventure
The fair is in Caracara, and you with your friends are ready for some fun. Lots of your favorite games and treats litter the village green. Though things don't remain cheerful for long, a strange artifact brings the celebrations to an abrupt end. Will you and your companions defend Caracara from this new threat and delve into the Grave of the Machines? The story will also involve things from characters' backstories. Since these are unique to the individual players, it's a little difficult to anticipate what could happen. Are you in a race against time to find a rare artifact? Are you trying to escape the law? Make a name for yourself? Each playthrough is different as I try to interweave each characters' backtory together in the greater narrative. This campaign based off the amazing Where the Machines Wait module by Monte Cook Games will be played every week! I have extensive experience helping players learn to play 5e, so don't feel like you can't enjoy one of the greatest role playing games ever made. The story is going to be based off of PCs' backstories that I'll get during Session 0. Session 0 is always free!

About me
I started running games in 2016 cause I thought Adventure League was too loud and crowded at my local game shop. My main games are DnD 5e and Cypher, though I have experience with Alien RPG, Call of Cthulhu, Star Wars D6, and more! I love comedy and fantasy games but thoroughly enjoy horror and sci-fi. My goal as a GM is to make sure you're having fun and encourage character building/growth. I'm not a RAW kind of GM. While I do defer to the rules on certain things, my overall goal is to keep balance and fun integral to the game. I also give inspiration if you make me laugh out loud while you're in character.

Creating your character
Characters will start at level 1. Players should have ideas for characters by session 0 but are not required to have character sheets ready. Characters should follow the Adventurer's League character creation rules, linked below. We'll be starting at Tier 1 for Session 0/1. If a player doesn't feel comfortable creating a character, I'm happy to make one for you! https://assets.ctfassets.net/swt2dsco9mfe/5HsTtt0nV2KIyAGYl4bIi9/6edfd53c11ff71bd647488fe730022ae/D_D_Adventurers_League_Player-s_Guide_v13.0.pdf
This story is what you make of it. My goal is to make a story based off of your characters' backstories. While balance is nice, I'll make fill in NPCs if the party is "lopsided". We're also very silly. Current Party - Clueless Barbarian - Socially Conscious Ranger - Twinkle-Toes Wizard
What to expect
Preparing for the session
Players will need Quest Portal,DnD Beyond, and Discord (optional) accounts and have a basic understanding of how to play 5e (ie, rolling dice, basic addition, etc). Players will only need a microphone, and we'll be using Quest Portal for voice chat. Quest Portal is mainly used for battle maps (and character sheets if players so choose). Discord is used for text chat outside of game time. If players want, they may use DnD Beyond alone for character sheets.
What GMSyd brings to the table
I'm not a Rules as Written GM. While I will defer to the rules on some things, I mostly operate on the Rule of Cool. Quest Portal assets and DnD Beyond Library. I love using fun voices for characters. Not all of my voices are great, but I have a couple here and there that are really good. I also love helping people learn to play RPGs. Not just 5e, but Cypher, Alien RPG, and more.

General Rules 1) Respect and listen to your fellow players. 2) Respect and listen to the DM. 3) Please do not distract other players. 4) Making the DM laugh so hard they can’t breathe while you’re in character gives you inspiration. 5) Take notes. 6) Please save meta-gaming, rule debates, memes, etc. until designated break times. 7) Wild Magic can occur at the DMs discretion. 8) Remember actions have consequences. 9) Keep noise at a reasonable level. Respect our neighbors and all of our ears. 10) No explicit actions will be detailed in-game. This includes sex, torture, etc. In accordance with StartPlaying.games rules and rightly so, no non-consensual sexual actions and no pedophilia will be allowed in this game. 11) No politics. 12) The Rule of Cool applies to the DM as well as players. We will be doing a Session 0 where I will gather everyone's lines and veils. Those are submitted anonymously if you so choose. I also have an Open Door policy. You can step away for any reason, and the only thing we'll ask is if you're ok.
