Report Adventure

About the adventure

In this Beginner-friendly adventure, the players are defending a town from threats both internal and external. While you aren't yet the most powerful adventurers, your role is no less important than that of the ones who save the world! This adventure will be great for learning the basics of Dungeons and Dragons 5th Edition, with the complete package of roleplay, combat, exploration, and puzzles! The core concept of this campaign is to take characters from level 1 up to level 6 while you protect your home town from the dangers of the world and nearby ruins. The world is a custom/homebrew setting called Poglia; it's Mid-fantasy, neither High-fantasy nor Low-magic, where low-level magic is relatively common, but not ubiquitous. I also already have in place a full-world map and a functional calendar, where we will be able to keep track of the party's position, path, and the date and time-of-day in-game. While the base concept of the campaign is to protect the town, you will be in a sandbox setting; that means you aren't forced to follow that plot line and you aren't constrained to only the starting town. That said, remember that the world turns even when your characters aren't involved, so abandoning the town may have disastrous consequences!

About me

Hi! My name is Asa, but you can call me Yeti if you'd prefer! I'm interested in hosting TTRPG sessions because I've been passionate about the hobby since I first began it over a decade ago, and I'm always looking to meet new people and experience new voices in collaborative storytelling! As for my credentials, I'm a Dungeon Master with 10+ years of experience in the TTRPG space, and have both played and DM'd in multiple systems, including Dungeons & Dragons 5th Edition (2014), Numenera Destiny & Discovery, Monster of the Week, Glitter Hearts, and Pathfinder 1st Edition. I pride myself on my ability to make memorable characters and my adaptability in storytelling. Nearly every campaign I've run has been set in custom/homebrew worlds, and I'm a huge proponent of Interactive Worldbuilding; when you have an idea, I make a concerted effort to make it work in the setting and to make sense within the world's logic. All that to say, when you book sessions with me, you're booking for my improvisational skills, storytelling ability, and my abilities to weave new concepts into existing frameworks and established lore.

Character creation

Creating your character

Character creation will occur during Session 0, after other topics have been discussed and safety tools have been taken into account. Starting level for this campaign is going to be 1, and specific parameters for creation (such as determining character stats and character creation options) will also be discussed during Session 0. To create, manage, and store each player's character sheet, they will need a D&D Beyond and/or Roll20 account; a D&D Beyond Campaign with book sharing enabled will be provided. I will also have options for pre-generated characters to choose from, if you're struggling with decision paralysis or just don't know what to play.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Every player will be required to have: - Steady internet connection - Intelligible microphone - Active Discord account (https://discord.app/) - Active Roll20 account (https://roll20.net/) - Active D&D Beyond account (https://www.dndbeyond.com/) - Access to Google Drive tools Optionally: - Webcam - An account with Fantasy Calendar (https://fantasy-calendar.com/)

What Asa / Yeti brings to the table

When you join one of my campaigns, these are some of the things you can expect at my table: - Large sourcebook library on D&D Beyond - Discord server - Supplemental material PDFs - Moderate selection of battle maps - Unique combat - Deep lore with ample room for interactive worldbuilding

Homebrew rules

Homebrew rules I include at my table include: - Drinking a potion is a Bonus Action, but applying one to someone else is an Action - Choose to Fail: whenever you are asked to make a saving throw, skill check, or an attack is aimed at you, you may declare that you would like to fail/be hit - Rule of Cool, Once is Enough: When you come up with an interesting solution to a problem that may not be entirely Rules-as-Written, or is "cheesy," you can only do that thing once - If You Can, They Can: if you exploit an "overpowered" strategy, your enemy may start using it against you as well

Safety

How Asa / Yeti creates a safe table

I have a document that will facilitate a Session 0 and prepare players for what to expect out of the campaign. During that session 0 we will use a spreadsheet to document what topics will be allowed, will not be allowed, or may end up as part of the game; said document can be updated at any time for any reason by any participant, and I will review it before each session and alert the party to any changes.
