About the adventure

This is "Play By Post" 1:1 with one player and me, the DM, playing the entire campaign of Planescape: Turn of Fortune's Wheel. I've been DMing 1:1 PBP campaigns on Discord for 5 years. It's a great way to play. You are always in the spotlight. The entire story revolves around your character and develops only in directions that interest you. The pace of play is usually much faster as well. There is no set schedule but I guarantee 10+ messages per day (at least 3 hours per week). Depending on your availability, my average is in the hundreds of messages per day. Ideally, you will be able to do the same so we can have reasonable progress. You will have access to sidekicks and hirelings so you don't have to try to create a do it all character. I've added in a lot of optional content to support bastions, downtime, faction renown, and the piety system for those interested in diving into those aspects of game play.

Game style

Play By Post

Play By Post refers to a game in which players interact with the story through messages and text posts. These games are typically played asynchronously throughout the week, which gives players time to consider what they want to do next, and engage with the story at their own pace.

Rule of Cool (RoC)

“Rule of Cool” emphasizes creative story beats over sticking to a system’s rules as written. Players have the ability to push the limits of the rules or even break core rule mechanics at times if the Game Master thinks it is interesting, fun, or cool enough.

Rules as Written (RaW)

Games that are ran “Rules as Written” emphasize realism and stick to the letter of the rules, allowing players to explore creative solutions while still operating under a consistent rule set. Players have the ability to utilize the rules in creative ways to create awesome characters and moments in the game.

How will character creation work

Rules as written for all published content on DNDBeyond.com. - Start at level 3 - Ability Scores: Point Buy - No legacy content. Variant human is legacy. - All non-legacy content is allowed including partner content. Custom lineage and custom backgrounds are not allowed. - No homebrew except mine which I use to flesh out rule gaps - Starting Equipment: use starting equipment rules normally for your character plus one common and one uncommon magic item from the DMG. If the magic item's base item costs more than 50 gp, you have to pay the cost over 50 gp. - Factions, piety, downtime, crafting, and bastions will be used but will come into play during game play, not during character creation.
