About the adventure

'The Mist.' is a DND 5E game that follows our players as they explore a small town in the crest of a mountain, enclosed by thick, dark woods. ✧˖°.🫧.°˖✧ ☾ ✧˖°.🫧.°˖✧ These woods have been plagued by a mysterious entity that only appears at night. The townsfolk tell tales and sing songs of how for decades people went missing in these woods at least once a month. This all changed 60 years ago when a priest from another country came and put whatever is in the woods in their place. ✧˖°.📖.°˖✧ ☾ ✧˖°.📖.°˖✧ Learn more about the town, this historic victory and (seemingly) everyone's faith in 'The Cathedral of Love and Prosperity' by joining me in building the adventure! Session Zero and One will be free :) Right now I think the campaign will last ~12 sessions [Themes of colonisation and cultural genocide]

About me

New GM. Looking to run games for people that don't mind suspending some disbelief. I'll likely be a little loose on rules for players, and am open to constructive criticisim, etc. I'm basing my games off of 5E as that's all I've played.

Character creation

Creating your character

☁️Character Creation will be worked through before Session Zero. We'll do a one-on-one call or dm back-and-forth about what kind of character you'll need for this campaign. I'm open to re-working your existing characters, helping you build a new one or making one for you. We're starting at Lv.2, for those that want a headstart. 🤝We'll discuss your character's motives for being in the town, what connections your character has made so far and what drives them as a person. As well as make a token of them to place in our OwlBear to represent your movement. 📚You can reference any 5E handbook or other 5E homebrew packs you'd like, but please send me a screenshot, link or photo of what it is you'd like from it; if possible.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Owlbear and Discord accounts. It's always a good idea to have a look on the DND and Beyond website, but you don't need to make an account for that. We'll build everything else together through discord before session zero, so no need to worry about that. (Dice aren't needed, as google works fine, but I use the 'RPG Simple Dice' mobile app if anyone wants to check that out.)

What IiamSilas brings to the table

🗺️Maps 🪙Helping players make tokens 🎶Scene-setting music ⚔️The difficulty of combat will rise as time goes on and players will level up just before a major difficulty increase. 🎤📺I'll be making a Discord for this campaign, and there will be plenty of fun bots and channels to play with. We'll be playing on Owlbear Rodeo, as well as calling through a Discord voice chat, but video is optional and voice chat can be worked around when necessary.

Homebrew rules

I'll talk through what character homebrew will fit the setting in our 1v1 Session 0. I don't have any homebrew rules for the general game as of yet.

How IiamSilas creates a safe table

🫂Aftercare We can discuss what this looks like for the group in Session Zero. I'm thinking we can play a few rounds of lighter, quicker games after each session, e.g. 20 questions (maybe some 2 player mobile games, e.g 8 Ball Pool) and the like. Sticking around for this part won't be mandatory. I know everyone has their own things going on and playing ~3hrs DND is a big commitment in itself, but I'd like my players to find their own way of decompressing soon after the session if they don't stick around for this. 🕰️Breaks Games will likely average 3hrs, we'll have a 10-15 minute break right in the middle. I'll heavily suggest we use this time to step away from the game for a moment, but if you feel the need to discuss something with me or other players that's alright too sometimes :) 💬Debriefing Before aftercare we can talk about the potential next steps for characters, Stars and Wishes/Roses and Thorns, and how well the game is doing discussing your characters motives and goals. This can also be with me privately if that would be preferred. 🎭Lines and Veils Our Lines and Veils will be discussed in Session Zero, and can be added to at anytime. Just dm me and we can discuss what needs changing, and bring in the rest of the party the following session if needed. ✒️Luxton Techique/Discussion The discussion of the Luxton Techique will occur in Session Zero and we'll always be open to discussing how to get through triggering situations as we play. 🔑Open Door There is no judgement in needing a break from the game when something gets too much. All I ask is that we can eventually discuss what happened so that it can be managed better next time. :) 0️⃣Session Zero We will discuss possible triggers (Lines and Veils/Luxton Techique Discussion) and how we'll navigate such things together, as well as Table Rules during Session Zero. It'll be shorter than the actual campaign sessions, ~2hrs. This may also be the initial introduction of characters and plot if we have time. Session Zero will be madatory, but players can step out at different points if they feel they need to. ✨Stars and Wishes/Roses and Thorns🌹 As I've said before I'm open to constructive criticisim. I WANT to know when something isn't working for you and your character, so I can give you the best experience possible. To make this OUR game we should be open to talking about when something is going well and going badly. I think talking about this before the light games of Aftercare start would be the best time, but we can always change our formatting as time goes on. Please dm me if you have any further questions!!
