About the adventure
It started with the Duke Ravenguard's disappearance. The town falling to madness and paranoia as members of the Cult of the Dead Three wreak havoc among the people of Baldur's Gate. The local Flaming Fist have sealed the town gates in hopes of catching the cultists but little progress is made, but renewed hope is found in fresh faced recruits that aim to clean the city streets of the murderous and necromantic cultists that are terrifying the citizens of Baldur's Gate. Little do they all know, fiendish plans are unfolding around them. This game will be the Descent into Avernus adventure path using the 2024 rule set of D&D 5e going through levels 1-13. If you are a fan of fighting evil, saving the innocent and becoming true heroes that can fight their way out of the depth of the Hells themselves then this will be an extremely enjoyable experience. Session 0 will be free.
Game style
Combat Heavy
“Combat Heavy” games emphasize the combat mechanics within their systems over roleplay or puzzle solving. There are frequent and longer battles with enemies and a greater emphasis on tactical game play.
Roleplay Heavy
“Roleplay Heavy” games place the focus on the story, the characters, and the world they live within, and tend to lean hard into the various roleplaying elements of the game. These games will frequently find the party talking with NPCs, exploring the personal elements of their backstories, or even having emotional moments around the camp fire.
Rule of Cool (RoC)
“Rule of Cool” emphasizes creative story beats over sticking to a system’s rules as written. Players have the ability to push the limits of the rules or even break core rule mechanics at times if the Game Master thinks it is interesting, fun, or cool enough.

How to prepare
A D&D Beyond account, a Roll20 account, and a Discord account are required and need to be set up before session 0. A basic understanding of the rules is recommended, but I am more than happy to explain things as the game goes on. A microphone and stable internet connection. All books will be provided by me for character creation and any assistance needed I'd be happy to provide.
What I provide
I use Roll20 for virtual tabletop, which includes maps, tokens, and handouts to visualize the game world. Additionally, I have all the books on D&D Beyond, providing easy access to rules and content for my players. I like to provide a unique experience to players with a lot of roleplay and connecting players to the world they play in. With the aid of music and sound effects I hope to craft an immersive adventure. While I tend to stick to the rules I love creativity and am happy to make things work that don't fit perfectly to the rules. This is a game of imagination and fun always wins out. All in all I just love this game and telling a fun story is something I'd be happy to do with you.
Gameplay details
Before playing I would ask players fill out the Monte Cook rpg consent checklist that will be pinned in my Discord server. At any point players can message me privately with X, N, or O in regard to the current content and will be dealt with immediately. In the middle of the session there will be a 5-10 minute break for bio, drink refills or just a chance to move around. After sessions I'd appreciate feedback or things you'd like to see so I can offer the best possible experience to all of you. Session 0 will be for introductions as well as character discussion and creation. I will also give a brief overview of the campaign with tone, themes and expectations in mind. Any important questions you might have I'm more than happy to answer!
