About the adventure

The Empire's grip on Vvardenfell is firm, but beneath the surface, ash and unrest gather. House Hlaalu profits from the slave trade. The Tribunal still rules as gods. Dagoth Ur sleeps. The Sixth House is forgotten. The year is 3E 416. The Ash Trail is a gritty, low-level Elder Scrolls 5e adventure about survival, resistance, and consequence. You begin as a slave, sold to the Dren Plantation on the southern edge of the island. What happens next is up to you. You can conspire with fellow captives, win favor with cruel masters, or disappear into the wild ashlands beyond. Expect slow-burn character arcs, tough moral choices, strange magic, and a narrative shaped by your actions. You don’t need to know Elder Scrolls lore to play, but fans will find plenty of deep cuts and familiar horrors. Roleplay is emphasized. Combat is meaningful and rare until you start making enemies. And you will make enemies.

About me

I'm a storyteller-first GM with a dramatic edge and a love for the weird that can come from exploring the decisions made at the table. Expect rich character arcs, morally grey decisions, and probably a few weird names. I bring a mix of improvisation and structured planning, tailored to player input. I don’t railroad, but I do drop breadcrumbs. I value character-driven narratives, emergent moments, and creating emotional stakes that actually stick.

Character creation

Creating your character

I prefer to have a free session zero to cover character creation, where I get to know you and your characters a bit before the ball starts rolling. In this campaign, you'll be starting at level 1 as a slave with nothing but the clothes on your back. We'll be going over the character options present in the Elder Scrolls 5e adaptation. Stats are rolled for at session zero, and I always recommend average HP over rolled, but you're allowed the option.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Accounts: You’ll need an account on Roll20 and Discord, as well as a mic for voice communication. Character Sheets: If you already have a character sheet, great! Feel free to bring it along, but please expect me to ask plenty of questions to get to know your character and to roll for stats. D&D Beyond: If you use D&D Beyond, it's welcome, but not required. If you don't have an account, don’t worry, we can work with whatever system you're most comfortable with. Expect Questions: Be ready to dive deep into your character’s backstory, motivations, and quirks. I love getting to know your characters, and it will help enrich the game experience! Roleplay Focus: This game will have plenty of roleplaying, choices with consequences, and moral ambiguity. Think about how your character would navigate a dangerous land like Vvardenfell.

What Quentin GM brings to the table

I run cinematic, character-driven games where choices matter and consequences linger. I’m not here to railroad you or babysit a party of lone wolves. Expect moody soundtracks, evocative descriptions, and NPCs with motives deeper than their stat blocks. I use Roll20, can bring custom maps and tokens, and favor “Rule of Cool” over pedantic rule lawyering. If you're unfamiliar with the game, I will help with any questions you may have about the systems or world.

Safety

How Quentin GM creates a safe table

Vvardenfell is a brutal land shaped by history, hierarchy, and old hatred. The Dunmer are deeply protective of their traditions, and outsiders—especially enslaved ones—are treated with suspicion or worse. This game includes themes of racism and xenophobia rooted in the setting’s lore, but always centers player agency and safety. Open communication is key, and tone can be adjusted to match player comfort.
