About the adventure

They say once life among the archipelagos was peaceful, but none alive today have known peace. Lift crystals, used to power the magical flight the world depends on, are becoming more and more precious as airships, sky beasts, and settlements use them to stay high above the surface, away from the Desolation. Whispers of war are on the wind, from the highest chambers of government to the wine sinks and brothels of the tiniest islands. But with conflict comes opportunity to change your fate, and you are seizing it. Tomorrow you join the crew of the Whale Song, a small merchant vessel heading for the capital of the Confederation. From there, who knows? Piracy is popular these days, and profitable. Perhaps some mercenary privateers can find their fortune in the coming conflict, or a team of relic hunters could find artifacts from before the islands soared? Only you, your crew mates, and fate will decide! This will be a learn to play for Critical Role's highly anticipated Daggerheart system!

About me

I've been GM-ing role playing games as long as I've been playing them, going back all the way to ye olde 3.5e days when I was the first in my group to read the Dungeon Master's Guide. Two decades later and this forever DM is ready to share that experience with the world. I've earned my stripes in everything from White Wolf's Storyteller system to several editions and renditions of the DnD formula to the fast and dirty combat of the Shadowrun universe. Multiple campaigns have run to high levels under my stewardship, so you know when you book with me that I'm in it for the long haul. As a neurodivergent person living with a disability, I value the space for creativity and expression that roleplaying games allow for, and I want to give the chance to experience it to everyone. I pride myself on running an inclusive table, and I am a firm believer that neurodivergent, LGBTQIA+, disabled, and minority voices enrich the experience for everyone. My email and discord accounts are responsive and checked daily, and I'm always excited to plan character progression, work on background inclusion, or talk mechanics whether you're brand new to the system or an experienced hand. Proudly AI image free, and proud of SP.G, myself, and my community of patrons for donating over $1000 dollars to charities for the disenfranchised, for victims, and to provide better tomorrows for a diverse range of people!

Character creation

Creating your character

We will be walking through character creation as a group during session 0 by the base rules of Daggerheart to get an authentic experience as Darrington Press intended, in Demiplane.

The current party

We currently have a Giant Bard, a Fungril Druid, a Human Guardian, and a Human Sorcerer, and could use help in a variety of roles!

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Please have a suitable internet connection, headphone, and microphone. Sometimes we may use Roll20 for visual aids and combat aids, and this is often better on a larger screen. No purchase of Daggerheart of anything else is necessary, but an adventurous, friendly, inclusive spirit will help integrate you into my great community!

What Ross brings to the table

I will provide a Demiplane Subscription, including the Roll20 Module, PDF, and Demiplane resources for Daggerheart. I will provide soundscapes and soundtracks to suit the scene and enhance the experience so you can almost feel the wind on your face. Combat will always be subject to the Rule of Cool. If you are with the game for 3 continuous months, I will also create, print, and ship you a miniature of your character that we design together on Heroforge and print on my personal 3D printer as a free gift. As a member of my discord community, you will also be eligible to free video game raffles, low cost miniature printing, and a community that creates bonds beyond games. I focus on immersion, excitement, and community in my role as game master, and always seek to go the extra mile to provide the best experience possible.

Safety

How Ross creates a safe table

We will be using a safety to make sure no one is having a bad time. On a bad day I can settle with a session that doesn't have great impact, but clients are paying me, so the last thing I wish to do is hurt them. Before session we will also be completing Monte Cook's RPG consent list, found formfillable on their website with a swift google for free. X cards can be used verbally, in private message, or visually on the virtual table top.
