About the adventure

In the aftermath of the devastating War of the Spark, a secretive organization arose from the ashes of countless ravaged planes, with one simple objective: Kill all Planeswalkers. Forged in trauma and wielding secret magic-technology, the Sparkreapers developed a method to trap planeswalker sparks within crystalline gems. And they've declared war on all who walk between worlds. You are these elite operatives: Sparkreapers. Each session drops you into a meticulously planned hunt for a specific planeswalker target. Your mission begins with comprehensive intelligence: location data, detailed assessments of their magical capabilities, and known associates and resources. From there, the hunt is yours to design. Will you set an elaborate trap? Launch a frontal assault? Use psychological manipulation? Every approach is valid, but be warned, these are the multiverse's most powerful beings, and they won't go quietly. This is a D&D 5e campaign in the Magic: the Gathering universe. A high-stakes, tactical gameplay where preparation meets improvisation. Sessions are self-contained, deadly level encounters against one specific Planeswalker, that conclude whether your quarry escapes or their spark becomes another of your sparkgems. With each successful hunt, your capabilities grow, allowing you to pursue increasingly powerful targets across all the known planes.

Game style

Combat Heavy

“Combat Heavy” games emphasize the combat mechanics within their systems over roleplay or puzzle solving. There are frequent and longer battles with enemies and a greater emphasis on tactical game play.

Rules as Written (RaW)

Games that are ran “Rules as Written” emphasize realism and stick to the letter of the rules, allowing players to explore creative solutions while still operating under a consistent rule set. Players have the ability to utilize the rules in creative ways to create awesome characters and moments in the game.

How to prepare

You will need a Discord account and roll20 account. Both are free Microphone (You should have tested it beforehand and ensure it works) Good internet connection Come with an open mind, willing to contribute to the creation of the world and narrative Willingness to embrace the unpredictable and actively contribute to the narrative Some knowledge of Magic: The Gathering lore is beneficial but not necessary Consider your character concept in advance: What drove them to hunt planeswalkers? What do they bring to the team? Bring your tactical thinking cap—planeswalkers are cunning, powerful adversaries that require creative approaches Most importantly, come prepared to participate in a truly collaborative experience where your choices drive the narrative.

Gameplay details

Players can expect fast-paced, tactical gameplay with real consequences. Each mission is designed to be completed within our session time. I emphasize player agency in both planning and execution phases—your approach to each hunt is entirely yours to craft. We will use the first week as our session 0. During Session 0 we will talk about any specifics of the game, express and clarify safety tools and go through character creation.

How will character creation work

Characters will be created before our first session following the point-buy rules of the 2014 Player's Handbook All characters begin with a Sparkgem that allows them to travel the planes like planeswalkers The character story must inlcude a traumatic event caused or related to the actions of a planeswalker. All official D&D 5e books are allowed. Characters will be created on Roll20 or Foundry (depending on our VTT choice). Your characters will advance one level after each completed mission (regardless of success), representing the experience gained from confronting such powerful beings. This advancement pace supports our episodic structure while allowing you to quickly access new abilities.
