In this scenario we create a group of troubled youths who have been handed to a boot camp by their parents and guardians. They wish to flee their tormentors and find an escape by playing a magical game, where they gain incredible powers and the chance to rise and fail as heroes. The game world adapts to their personal problems and wishes while a dark force is threatening them and their return home. During the adventure you will play as unice character classes, unlock and unleash phantastical powers, be confronted with the needs of your character and strife to deal with their weaknesses. You will explore your character's personality and see them grow in an emotional adventure about identity and change. Expect hard choices, social encounters, introspection and cinematic fights. Character play and self discovery come first! You'll see a list of content warnings, most of them are possible themes and we will see what topics to explore and which we won't go into. About me

Hi, I am Tom Murr and you are about to be enchanted to play a game with me. RPGS are a big part of my life for round about 2 decades by this point. For a very long time I ran games at the kitchen table and then found people online who shared my interest in games aside of the big fantasy ones. There is a chance, that you already have encountered me. I have been on several streams (i.e. Onyx Path) and in two podcast mini campaings (Red Moon Roleplaying). Sometimes you can find me on online conventions and in written form on DriveThru with some Vaesen community content. Some examples of my streams can be found on my not to active youtube channel further below. My favourite genre is faerie tale / folk horror. It can be the perfect blend of beauty/weird/scary, which I love (Changeling The Lost, Vaesen, Solemn Vale). But I also venture into other horror stories like other Chronicles of Darkness lines. Dark and weird fantasy like Heart the City beneath and Spire the City must fall. Some comedy like Paranoia or They Came from ... There is always a new game that I am learning and trying. Should you prefere storytelling to numbers crunching and are fine to go rules light, we might have a great time together. We will be both fans of your character, you by giving them a backstory and bringing them to life and I by challenging them and weaving a story avout them.

Character creation

Creating your character

Character creation is part of the game and we will create our group of misfits together. There are two steps involved. one for creating the "real" person and their hero version in the fantasy realm. You need no prior knowledge and should keep an open mind for everyone's ideas.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Have a working Discord setup at the ready, aswell as an adjusted microphone and webcam. There is very little you need to prepare. You should have a google account, so we can use some google sheets to have all the information at one place. It'd be great if you have a full set of dice (d4 - d20) at hand. You'll use d6 the most, so it doesn't hurt to have a few more of them. But there are online dice rollers you can use.

What Tom Murr brings to the table

At the beginning of each session we will have a short chat to arrive at the table and getting ready to play. As an experienced teacher I am very very relaxed with answering questions, giving further help and explanations. I'll draw you in with my voice and descriptions, sending you directly into our gaming worlds. When you bring your ideas to the table I'll see to incoporate them and ask for your input about NPCs, places and the like too. After the game, we will take a few minutes to fully return to own reality and making sure everyone is doing fine.

How Tom Murr creates a safe table

You can leave the table at any time without an explanation, shouldn't you feel well. To avoid this I employ several other tools, to have a healthy communication within our group. We will collect Lines and Veils in advance with a google form. Also we will talk through the difficult topics of the game in the first session to make sure, everyone is doing fine. During the game you can reach out via chat and send an X to signal you are uncomfortable if need be. After the game we will have a chat to decompress and stars and wishes can be formulated.
