About the adventure

For all those brave enough to venture through the mists, will find themselves in a realm of death that reveres the Old Ways. Please join me on a perilous adventure through Legends of Avantris' Kickstarter smash hit campaign, The Crooked Moon. This campaign is a folk horror and high fantasy game where the creaking of an old house is as frightening as the perils you will face, as whimsical dread takes hold of you.

About me

Hey there I’m Sammo The Magnifecent and I hope to guide you through an incredible journey as we use the magic of ttrpgs to make epic stories together! I’m looking forward to getting to know you and your characters and making them a part of the story and world that we will be inhabiting! As your Gm I will provide a world that your characters can inhabit by painting you a picture with my words as well as by providing maps and art of the locations you find yourselves and portraying the characters around you with fun voices and memorable personalities!

Character creation

Creating your character

I would like for us to make our characters together as a group during the free session 0, of course exceptions can be made on a case-by-case basis. We will be using 5e 2014 rules. We will use the classic 4d6 drop the lowest method. I am open to any homebrew as long as you run it by me and I give it the greenlight. Starting level will be 1, but can be brought to 3 if that is the consensus of the party. We will make our characters in D&D Beyond.

What Sammo The Magnificent brings to the table

I will bring character voices and ambient music. I play by a mix of Rule of cool and Rules as written depending on which fits the moment the best, though if we establish a ruling together i will endeavor to stick to it very faithfully.

Homebrew rules

1.Juicy Crits: When landing a natural 20 on an attack role you will get the maximum possible damage from your role plus an addition role of the damage die. Ex: 1d4+2=6+1d4 2. The "wounded" condition: When a player's HP drops to 0, they enter the dying state as usual, but if they are brought back up by any means they come back with 1 step of the wounded condition. While a PC has the wounded condition, if they are downed again, they will automatically start with 1 failed Death Saving Throw. Each time the PC is brought back up from 0 HP they will gain another step in the wounded condition until they reach wounded 3, at which point they die outright, having 3 automatic failed Death Saving Throws. The wounded condition can be reduced either with a successful medicine check from a PC or NPC who has proficiency in medicine, beating a dc of 10+ the number of steps of the wounded condition, or by taking a long rest with the wounded condition decreasing by 1 each long rest. I am also open to any additional Homebrew rules if you have any to suggest!

How Sammo The Magnificent creates a safe table

During session 0 i will ask if there are any boundaries any player has as far as content of the game is concerned. I take breaks once per session and have a post-game wrap up where I ask the players for notes, feedback, and constructive criticism as well as any moments they particularly liked. Though this is a two-way street as i will offer the same.
