About the adventure

The dragon Cryovain has been driven from the far reaches of the northern lands. In a search for a new home, they have settled on Ice Spire Peak. However, their presence has been at odds with the creatures who already call this mountain home. Now Phandalin and the other cities on the edge of the Sword Coast are best by monsters of all sorts. You and your band of adventurers must help to save the city of Phandalin, and to stop Cryovain as he terrorizes the mountains near the city. This campaign is intended for new and beginning players to D&D. Players will begin at level 1 and progress through level 7 by the end of the campaign. This is the perfect opportunity to learn D&D, to take a step up from previous experience in one-off games, and start your journey!

About me

Hello! After playing as a character in many 1-shots and campaigns with my friends, I am now taking on the next challenge of DND: becoming a DM! Im a new-ish DM who likes hosting new players and introducing players to DND in low-stress, high fun, community focused games.

Character creation

Creating your character

During Session 0 we will create characters as a group! This way we can build a party together, discuss each other's characters, and the party makeup as a whole. Players will use D&D Beyond to make their characters, as will continue to update them using the D&D Beyond system.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Players will ned a mic, and a device that can access the internet in order to use D&D Beyond and Foundry VTT. It would be best of this device were to be a computer of some kind, as sizing, access to D&D Beyond and Foundry VTT works best on a computer over a phone or other mobile device. If a computer is not accessible we can discuss options and test out what device is available ensure successor the player!

What Jimmy (Tri-Nerd) brings to the table

will bring content from D&D Beyond for all players, as well as Foundry VTT! I try to make my games enjoyable for all players at the table, and incorporating all players, ideas, and goals into the story told at the table. Especially hoping to work with newer players and introducing folks to DND, my goal is to explain rules, characters, spells, abilities, and skills with the most information possible to encourage players to explore their own characters and actions.

Homebrew rules

There are two home-brew rules that I will bring to this table: 1. Drinking potions as a bonus action. I find that this makes gameplay more enjoyable, and that all players can still get a full turn as a result. 2. Modified critical hits. If a player rolls a critical hit for damage, rather than rolling double of the dice, I will add the highest possible number outcome on the attack, and then have the player roll in addition to this hit. That way the player has a critical success guaranteed.
