About the adventure

You begin as members of the Gran March military, strangers thrown together under one banner, tasked with patrols along the border and drills under stern captains. Yet these lands lie on the edge of danger. Bandits prowl the woods, ancient evils stir beneath forgotten ruins, and the shadow of war looms ever closer. In this campaign, you will rise from 5th-level soldiers to 20th‑level legends over a series of focused missions. Each session is built as a self‑contained adventure—perfect for busy schedules—yet every victory and failure shapes the long war for the March. Will you rise through the ranks as honored veterans, or fall in the defense of your homeland? Expect tactical combat, meaningful choices, and plenty of opportunities for roleplay and character growth. Forge bonds with your fellow soldiers, uncover the secrets of Greyhawk’s borderlands, and answer the call of duty as the dangers escalate from petty raiders to world‑shaking threats. Whether you’re a Greyhawk veteran or brand‑new to the setting, this campaign is designed to welcome you. Your actions matter. Your decisions ripple through the March. Together, you will carry the shields that hold the line—and perhaps become the heroes sung of for generations. Game Features: ✅ Start at level 5 and grow to level 20 over time. ✅ Set in the classic world of Greyhawk, focused on the Gran March. ✅ Each mission is a 3–4 hour session—easy to drop in and play. ✅ Rich mix of combat, intrigue, and military life. ✅ Perfect for players who enjoy teamwork, strategy, and heroic arcs. The muster begins soon. Will you stand with the Shields of the March?

About me

Welcome to the Table—Leave Your Boring at the Door Let’s be clear: I like to have fun. The kind of fun that makes you say, “Wait... did we just ride a beholder like a rodeo bull and survive?” I’ve been around the gaming block more times than a bard's been kicked out of taverns. I've played just about every version of Dungeons & Dragons and a smattering of other systems, from high fantasy to "why is this pigeon carrying a gun?" Whatever the world, my goal is always the same—make it epic, make it cinematic, and for the love of dice, make it fun. Now, I’m all about the Rule of Cool. Want to parkour off a wyvern’s head while firing a crossbow upside down? If it makes sense and sounds awesome, hell yes, let's roll for it. But here’s the deal: Cool doesn't mean chaos. We still play by the rules—this isn’t a lawless wasteland. It's more like... a very stylish heist where the DM is the alarm system, and you're trying to outsmart me with flair and minimal property damage. Mostly. I welcome all kinds of players, from dice-slinging veterans to curious newbies who still think THAC0 is a brand of chip dip. But remember: this game isn’t about you steamrolling every scene like a caffeinated murderhobo with main character syndrome. We’re here to build a story together. Everyone gets a spotlight, everyone gets a say, and yes, even the guy who named his character “Blüdgør the Edgelord” gets a chance to shine. So buckle up, bring your best ideas, your worst puns, and your most questionable battle plans. If you’re ready to play hard, laugh harder, and maybe cry a little when the talking sword you adopted dies heroically, then welcome to my game. Let’s raise some hell—with a proper initiative roll, of course.

Chris is great at balancing difficulty. There's been quite a few instances where we just avoided TPK by the skin of our teeth. It makes everything very dramatic and intense. Chris will take player feedback into account right away. Not enough combat? Have a full session of combat. Joke about the level of gore? Have a non-lethal brawl. Chris also allows for practically any crazy idea you want. Just beware of the consequences. Want to misty step onto the back of the attacking dragon and ride it like a bucking bronco? Go right ahead! Our wizard got body-slammed multiple times, though. Chris also creates a great environment for beginners. I have less than a year of experience with DnD and other players have trouble switching to a virtual tabletop. We all still feel welcome and have a fun time, even if the dynamic lighting is giving us grief.

I have been doing a campaign with Chris for about a year now. He does some good voice acting in the game and breaths life into NPCs. He is patient and helpful with all experience levels of players. Chris is also well prepared for the game. When we do catch him off guard with a party decision, he adapts quickly.

DM Chris did a great job hosting the game, it has been a while since I played dnd so his table is very welcoming to new players. Great world building, fun custom classes and races, plus knows how to give each player a chance for the spot light.

Chris has a terrific knowledge of the rules but loves to let the players run with the game and have a good time. Very good at explaining and teaching the new players that come to the table. Very patient and fun. He tells a great story.

Character creation
Creating your character

Character creation can be completed before the first session, or you may choose from a selection of pregenerated characters provided by the GM—perfect if you want to jump right into the action. Starting Level: 5th Stat Generation: Custom 36-point buy system, using this tool: http://www.propelled.de/extern/chargen Minimum stat before racial modifiers: 8 Maximum stat before racial modifiers: 18 Platform: Characters will be created and managed in Roll20 Allowed Sources: Most D&D 3.5 sources and books are allowed, but please avoid content from third-party sources or Unearthed Arcana variants unless approved in advance. If you’re unsure about a source or feat, just ask! If you’d like help building your character or have a concept in mind, feel free to reach out before the session. We’ll make sure you’re ready to hit the ground running.

What to expect
Preparing for the session

The following are required: Before we begin, make sure to complete the following steps so you're ready to play: Create a Discord account (free) – if you don’t already have one. Create a Roll20 account (free) – this will be used for maps, dice rolls, character sheets, and more. Join my Discord server – this is where we’ll handle voice chat, game announcements, and out-of-game communication. Join the Roll20 game – where the adventure will take place. Links to both the Discord and Roll20 game will be provided after you sign up. You don’t need to install any programs—both Discord and Roll20 run in your web browser (though the Discord app is recommended for stability). If you have any issues with setup, I’m happy to help you get started.

What Chris brings to the table

I aim to create a fun, engaging environment where you feel both challenged and celebrated. I will be your toughest opponent and your biggest fan—cheering you on as you overcome epic battles while pushing your characters to their limits. Combat will be intense, tactical, and rewarding. Smart play and teamwork can turn the tide. Expect strategic encounters that make use of terrain, movement, and clever thinking. I bring scenes to life with character voices and ambient music, helping to create an immersive experience that enhances both roleplay and tension. My GM style strikes a balance between Rules as Written and the Rule of Cool. I call it “cool within the rules”—expect the game to be fair and consistent, but also cinematic and flexible when it makes the moment better. You’ll always know where you stand, and you’ll always have room to shine. Whether you're a veteran or new to 3.5, I’m here to help you have an unforgettable adventure.

Safety
How Chris creates a safe table

Once you join the game on Start Playing Games you'll receive a Roll20 invite to the game and a link to the Discord server. The rules for character creation are on the landing page of the game and on the Discord server. Look over the character creation guidelines and have an idea for your character but we will not officially create characters until the session 0. This game is safe space for all players. Intolerance is not permitted in my games.
